Welcome to the first post of my Florida series! I’ll be posting about my trip and sharing the photos day by day. So follow along with the Florida tag over the next three or four weeks to see what I got up to on my holiday.

By the time you are reading this I’ll be back in the UK. Woe. If there are no delays, my plane was due to land at 6am. It’s really weird writing in the past tense about something that has happened in the future. Blogger problems LOLZ.

Okay, so we’ll start with day minus one.

Bewley’s Hotel

On the day before we flew out to Florida, we spent the night at Bewley’s Hotel which is next to Manchester airport. This was so we didn’t have to get a train at stupid o’clock in the morning as we had to be at the airport for 8am.

We travelled down late afternoon and got there around 6pm. It was a bit tricky getting from train station to the hotel, as you could see it but couldn’t see how to get to it as there were busy roads that we couldn’t cross and no visible way to get to the entrance of the hotel. It was only when we had managed to get there by running across roads with our cases that we found out all we had to do was use the phone in the train station which would have connected to the hotel and they would have sent one of their mini buses out for us for free!

When we checked in, we were asked what time we needed to leave so we could book the said bus to take us to the terminal in the morning which was a relief!

The Food.

The food was lovely! We all picked the same starter which was a duck pate with bread. It was massive and there was so much pate.

I had a sirloin steak with peppercorn source which was delicious. I had it cooked medium, the waiter looked at my funny when I said that, which prompted me to turn to my housemate and ask if I had ‘said that right’. It was a bit awkward. It came with a side of chunky chips, I’m not a massive fan of chips but these were really nice. I couldn’t manage them all though!

The twins had a roast dinner, which they said was lovely!

The Rooms.

The rooms were nice enough, we had single beds and a massive desk with a TV. The bathroom was nice too and I was happy for what I paid, we paid about £30 each, so the room was around £60 per night.

  1. I always ask for my steak ‘medium’ so if there is a problem with that I have no idea what it is!

  2. That food looks really yummy! Bit weird that the waiter looked at you funny for asking for it cooked medium though x

  3. Food posts make me stomach grumble – the pate looks lush! Glad you didn’t kill yourself crossing the road cos I’m excited to read the rest of the series!

  4. That food looks delicious! It’s making me hungry. Early morning flights are never much fun, but it helps by staying in a nice place the night before! I can’t wait to see photos of Florida! xx

  8. Makes such a difference to a holiday staying in a hotel the night before. Makes what can be stressful relaxing. The food looks nice as does the hotel. Hope you had fun in Florida. Does the sock puppet have a name Lucy x

  9. Oh those chips look so tasty! 🙂

Your little knitted friends are adorable too – looking forward to seeing them pop up more in your Florida posts! 🙂

  10. I stayed here in May as I had an early flight too the next day (the 6am to Tallinn). I was really impressed by Bewley’s and would stay again. Agree about the shuttle bus though. Luckily I followed some others to it or I would have attempted to get there on foot too! Really good service to say that was free. x
