About Me

My name is Corinne. I am in my 30s and live in York, North Yorkshire, England. I’ve been blogging here since 2012. I transitioned to a full-time career in blogging in 2021. I’m also dyslexic, so you’ll occasionally spot a typo. My brain reads what it thinks should be there rather than what’s actually on the screen — proofreading is basically pointless for me. I’ve made my peace with it.

I’m AuDHD – late diagnosed. I’m your typical case of a high-masking girl navigating the world undiagnosed, hitting horrific mental health issues during puberty, and slowly realising I am autistic at 39. I’ve written about my journey and autism assessment here.

I gave birth to the most beautiful baby who has ever existed in November 2020. You can read all about the birth story here, though I must warn you, it’s pretty grim in parts. Avoid if you are squeamish. However, I don’t post much about my child on this blog as I want him to decide for himself what he shares with the world when he is old enough. I’m a big believer in protecting the privacy of children online.

There may be the odd photo of him in older posts, but I’m slowly making my way through the thousands of articles on my site to remove them. If you’re wondering why I stopped sharing my child online, you can read about that here.


I went to university and studied French and Philosophy. I also spent almost a year in France, teaching English at a French high school. I worked in retail management, operations, and stock loss all within the same company for 19 years. I quit my job to blog full-time after the birth of my baby boy. 

Ten years of blogging part-time alongside my full-time job ultimately paid off. It was difficult at times, but I am the type of person who can be somewhat obsessive about my interests (thanks, autism!), and I had strong motivation to do both jobs.


My hobbies, aside from blogging, include playing the piano, crocheting, painting, gardening, growing my own food, weightlifting, and setting myself unrealistic goals that lead to complete burnout. I struggle to rest and sit still; my mind is often in overdrive. Most of the time, I feel so full of ideas and creativity that I feel like I might explode. I always have to be doing something! At my autism assessment, I was told that is ADHD and is probably my favourite part of my brain because it allows me to become very good at things I love very quickly.

And that’s why I started this blog.  

Please don’t ask me why I chose to call this website skinnedcartree. It’s a long story, and I would NOT have picked this name if I had known it would be my business name in the future. But we’re in too deep now. So I have to live with the stupid decision for the rest of my life, I guess.
