We were invited to Spilmans Farm for their magical Christmas experience over the weekend. It’s near Thirsk in North Yorkshire and is a family-run farm known for its pumpkin patch and lambing. But at Christmas, it turns into a winter wonderland with lots of festive cheer.

So if you’re looking to book tickets for the kids to have some fun this festive season, Spilmans Farm is a great option.

Christmas At Spilmans

Welcome to the North Pole

When we arrived, a friendly elf greeted us and welcomed us to the North Pole, full of Christmas trees and Christmas decorations. Children of all ages were enjoying colouring in the tent while waiting for their timeslot to start. Don’t forget to bundle up in warm clothes as the event is in tents and barns.

Although we were waiting for our show to start, this was very much part of the experience. Children were doing different activities, such as crafts, and adults were handed mulled wine or mulled cider. There are photo opportunities on Santa’s sleigh. The elves are on hand to help the children with their crafting and colouring.

Two Part Show

The live entertainment featured a two-part interactive show. The first was told by two cheeky elves who gave us lots of laughs! The siblings entertained the children involved in their story while telling lots of jokes to keep the adults entertained. After this, we were led to a second stage to Santa’s workshop. Where we met Tinker the elf, who was having a little bit of trouble at work.

This show ended with a Christmas disco full of bubbles, dancing and lights – all the kids had a brilliant time.

Story Time and a Special Christmas Gift

Next was the Santa visit. Unlike many Santa’s grotto setups where you’re rushed through, Spilmans Farm offers a more personal experience. We were split into groups and invited into Santa’s cabin for a story with Santa Claus.

After the story, each child had the opportunity to meet Santa one-on-one. He gave them a ticket to choose a special Christmas gift from the toy shop, so each child they left with their own present they picked.

Toasting Marshmallows

Outside, there were firepits where you could toast your own marshmallows before heading home. A great end to a festive day out!
