About Eagle and Child York

The Eagle and Child is a historic pub located in the heart of York, UK. The pub features a cosy interior with traditional decor, including exposed brick walls and wooden beams. The menu offers a range of classic pub dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, as well as a selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. The pub also has outdoor seating in a courtyard area, making it a great spot to enjoy drinks and food on a sunny day. The Eagle and Child also offer live music and other events throughout the year.

My Eagle and Child Review

This pub really does capture the beauty of York with how it’s decorated. Upstairs, there’s more seating and even a little nook with a table and benches that would fit 8 – 10 people. There’s a walled beer garden so you can enjoy the sun.

One thing I’m loving about York is the number of beer gardens. I found that Leeds didn’t have many and they were always packed as soon as the sun comes out.

Sitting by the windows, you get to see all the lovely buildings that line the streets of York. It’s got a lovely atmosphere and I can’t wait to go back again. We love going here near Christmas where Eagle & Child serve mulled cider and mulled wine. We’ve eaten there a few times also. Eagle & Child York serve your typical pub food and have a lovely selection of sandwiches, wraps and paninis for lunch. I would recommend the steak sandwich for sure!

You can find the Eagle & Child food menu here.

  1. Eagle & Child looks great. I like the pubs in York too, it’s a shame they are so far from us. I would visit them more often if I could.
