This week we went pumpkin picking at the Whole Hogg Farm Shop in Malton, a popular North Yorkshire spot for seasonal pumpkin picking and family days out. We’d never been pumpkin picking before, so it was a first for us! We went with some friends who live in Malton and recommended this place.
Pumpkin Picking at The Whole Hogg Farm Shop Malton
The Whole Hogg Farm Shop grows its own pumpkins on-site, with over 100 varieties in all sorts of sizes and colours, from classic orange to ghostly white. The maize maze is open at the same time, and you might spot the farm’s horses, Shetland ponies and goats too.
It has a lovely tearoom, where we sat and enjoyed a coffee with a rocky road before. There’s also a small shop which sells local produce such as oils, jams, honey, meat, and deli items and outside there’s fresh fruit and veg. It’s quite lovely, actually!

Weekends can be busy in October, so visiting earlier in the day helps avoid queues.
Dates: Dates: 2026 dates TBC (it usually opens on the first weekend in October and runs until 31 October, or until the pumpkins run out)
Twlight Pumpkin Picking: Twilight pumpkin picking: they usually run evening picking on selected dates in October, which you need to book. Last year it was 6pm to 9pm on 16, 17, 23, 24 and 25 October.
