My Eagle and Child York Review
This pub really does capture the beauty of York with how it’s decorated. The timber-framed building is stunning from the outside, and inside it’s just as impressive with all the exposed beams and traditional features.
Upstairs, there’s more seating and even a little nook with a table and benches that would fit 8-10 people. This is brilliant if you’re visiting with a group or want somewhere a bit more private.
There’s a walled beer garden so you can enjoy the sun – and as someone who moved from Leeds, I can tell you that York has so many more beer gardens than Leeds! They’re always packed as soon as the sun comes out, and Eagle & Child’s is lovely.
Sitting by the windows, you get to see all the lovely buildings that line the streets of York. It’s got a lovely atmosphere and I can’t wait to go back again (though to be honest, we’ve been back loads of times already!).
Our Multiple Visits
We love going here near Christmas, where Eagle & Child York serve mulled cider and mulled wine. The whole place feels so cosy and festive with the timber beams and the warm atmosphere – it’s perfect for a winter drink!
We’ve eaten there a few times also. The Eagle & Child York serves your typical pub food but done really well. They have a lovely selection of sandwiches, wraps and paninis for lunch. I would recommend the steak sandwich for sure! It’s one of my go-to orders when we visit.
