My family found Zorbas Argassi Zakynthos on one of the evenings I was ill so stayed in. They all came back saying how much they loved it, especially the lamb on the spit. They said it was nicer than Granada’s Lamb Kleftiko.
A few days later when my Mum and Dad weren’t feeling too well so stayed in the hotel, we decided to go again.
Zorbas Restaurant Argassi
The first impression is that it was busy! It was just after 7 pm when we went and the place was getting packed. The waiters all seemed energetic and happy. They gave my 8-year-old niece some crayons and a colouring sheet with puzzles on – this is the only place we ate in Zante where this happened.
After everyone told me how lovely the lamb on the spit was, I decided to go for that.
Compared to the other dishes, the presentation wasn’t as good, but it was delicious. The only thing is that it came with a salad which was a bit odd. Can’t say I’ve ever had lamb, gravy, potatoes and mint sauce with salad before. I would have much preferred it to come with warm vegetables instead. Maybe that’s a British thing!
When we left, people were queuing to get in.
We booked a table for the following week for my Dad’s 71st birthday.
I decided to go for the Zorbas Lamb this time. Even though I wanted the lamb spit, I also wanted to try something new. The Zorbas lamb was lamb in a tomato sauce with veg and feta cheese. It was delicious and there were loads. It also came with chips and I struggled to eat it all.
My sister-in-law had grilled prawns and they were massive! I was kind of jealous of how meaty and nice they looked. She loved it.
They brought out a cake with a sparkler in for my Dad’s birthday. They played music and everyone sang. It was a really nice evening, especially as it was the last of the holiday.
Zorbas Agassi is wonderful. I’d recommend it 100% and I’ll be going back to Zorbas Zakynthos if I ever go back to Zante!
