The roast baguette, with its well-cooked filling and homemade gravy, comes highly recommended. Despite its slightly high prices, the food, service, and overall experience make every penny spent worth it.

With a menu bursting with variety and dishes made to perfection, Helmsley Spice is wonderful. The lamb is a must-try, with reviews describing it as melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The restaurant serves food till late, making it a great place for late-night cravings. I’ve been to Helmsley Spice many times and the curried lamb shank is amazing. It fell off the bone!

Despite being cash-only (there is a cash machine very close by!), Helmsley Spice offers a wonderful dining experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is delicious, and the quality of the meat is top-notch. If you’re looking for an authentic Asian dining experience, Helmsley Spice should be on your list of places to eat in Helmsley. It’s such good value for money and out of all the Helmsley restaurants I’ve tried, Helmsley Spice wins hands down.

Fish and chips are a classic and Deep Blue serve up a great fish and chips! You can dine in or take away. The portion sizes are great. We’ve had fish and chips from here so many times and we’ve never been disappointed.

​Cornercopia is voted the best place to eat in Helmsley on Trip Advisor. It’s a cafe that serves light lunches, cake and coffee and is a brilliant place to stop for lunch. It has exceptional service and reviewers rave at how friendly the staff are. This is a great place for small plates, and great food and is the best cafe in Helmsley.

12. Porters Coffee Shop

This lovely little cafe is great for quick bites. Think sandwiches, scones and a cup of coffee. I visited one cold winter morning and it was a cosy place to sit and have a chat with friends, We sat right next to an open fire to keep us warm. . It had friendly service and a great atmosphere. Great if you’re looking for a light lunch.
