I should probably clarify upfront: I’m British. Very British. Yorkshire-born, tea-dependent, deeply invested in whether it rains at the weekend. I have no personal stake in American Independence Day whatsoever — and yet I genuinely love it.
There’s something about 4th of July that I find completely brilliant from the outside. The flags, the fireworks, the absolute commitment to celebration. America does patriotism in a way that nobody else quite manages, and I mean that as a compliment. We Brits are quite rubbish at it, honestly.
Anyway. Whether you’re American and looking for the perfect caption, or you’re sending a message to someone celebrating, or you’re just here because you love a good quote — here are 80 of the best 4th of July quotes going.
(And yes, I’m aware of the irony of a British person writing this. We let you go. You’re welcome.)
