Back to my quest to find the perfect mascara, then. Today we are trying Lancome Doll Eyes Mascara.
I’ve previously tried and tested:
Maybelline Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Waterproof Mascara
Perversion Mascara // Bigger Blacker Badder
My favourite so far has been the Perversion by Urban Decay! It’s started to dry a little, so I opened this Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara I bought a few months ago.
I must have about 5 mascaras waiting to be tested! I’m trying to use them up one by one in a bid to save a bit of cash.

About Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara
The Lancome Doll Eyes Mascara comes in simple black packaging, I really like the shape of the tube and the flower detail on it. It feels quite classy and sleek.
This is not a cheap mascara and costs around £22. The most I’ve ever spent on mascara, but I got it on a sale for about £14 I think?
When I first opened this Lancome mascara, I noticed that it had a very distinct smell. I’m pretty sure most mascaras don’t have a scent, but this one smells like face cream. It’s not offensive, just shocking. I have a fear this has the potential to smell bad in the future.
It led me to think though, does other mascara smell? Some went around sniffing a few more and some do smell if you put them close to your nose, but nothing as strong as this! Please have a whiff and let me know if yours smells.
Now I feel awkward. What am I doing again? Oh right, you’re trying to blog about a mascara, Corinne. Get on with it, you knob.

My Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara Review
It claims to coat every lash with its wand to create a wide-eyed look, without weighing the lashes down.
On application, I found that it didn’t clump at all and did help to separate my lashes while adding some volume.
I’ve got thin lashes, even though they are quite long – so I’m all for volume.

The mascara didn’t particularly help my lashes curl upwards, so I’m a bit at a loss as to why it’s described as weightless, as I didn’t feel it did anything different in that department.
All in all, it’s a pretty decent mascara. But would I pay £22 for it? No, I wouldn’t.
It’s back to the drawing board, I guess.
You can see pictures with it on my facial face below. Sorry for the close-ups, but it’s just a face. We all got one.

Have you tried Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara before?
That’s too bad. At least you tried it!
Wow I could see a big difference on the lashes great review now I want that mascara.
Thanks, you should try it!
Aw, too bad it didn’t work out. I know how you feel ‘cos I’ve been looking for the perfect powder foundation but so far haven’t had any luck as well. You’ll find your Holy Grail mascara eventually! <3
I’m looking for a foundation too, none cover my spots up enough!
Wow you do have long lashes! Lucky…
I just hate things with terrible smells really makes me not want to use it. Looks great though but a little pricey!

nice mascara!!!
I have read mixed reviews on this mascara and thank goodness I didn’t invest in it! My problem has always been curl, volume and length…well, all of everything. I did enjoy Cannonball mascara from Urban Decay but that’s a fibre mascara. I’m still on the quest of finding the perfect one for myself too.
p/s: Wish I have your patience in using mascaras one by one, I have almost 10 in rotation. LOL!

Haha! I just don’t want them to dry out before I can use them all up, otherwise I end up having loads opened and it makes it hard to stay organised!
I’m on a similar never ending quest! My lashes aren’t the best in their natural state but I am liking the new offering from Benefit!

Really? I’m put off it because I hated They’re Real!
Yes! UD’s Perversion Mascara is perfection in a tube and it sucks that this mascara didn’t measure up to it. Have you tried Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Mascara “Gifted”? That one is one my new favorite.

Ohh, thanks for the recommendation, I’ll stick it in my wish list!
It does a nice job lengthening but I could understand you wanting some volume as well I’m a fan of L’oreal’s Manga Mascara and it’s under $10.
Yeah, it’s really a little expensive but I love the result on your lashes)) Very excited to get one of my own.

Hi Corrine,
Nice review and I love your pictures. I am using the Maybelling Falsies and have been for years. It’s the only one that works for me after having tried tons.

Wow it must be good if you’ve been using it for years!
That mascara looks AMAZING! Thanks for sharing doll!
xo,
Finding a good mascara is so difficult and I have tried loads and loads. My favourites are Bobby Brown and Rimmel Lucy x
I’m excited you’e trying out all of these mascaras, Mascara is the one thing where I’ve always thought cheap ones are just as good as expensive ones. But truth is I’ve never tried expensive ones! So I don’t know. Thanks for the recommendations and review!
Gina
I think the mid range ones are usually pretty decent. Expensive ones haven’t really floored me!
It’s weird that this smells, I don’t think I’d want scented mascara near my eyes? Shame this is a bit pants, especially for the price! My favourite is the perversion mascara too, woo! Fragrance Direct do it for £11 🙂
India / Touchscreens & Beautyqueens
I checked and couldn’t find it! Wah!
Looks like a nice product and you have beautiful eyes 🙂
See you Corinne xx
Their Hypmose Drama is amazing…and YSL Shocking…although that is another one that smells!

Mascara & Maltesers
I want to smell it too, ha.
I haven’t used a Lancome mascara in ages, I remember that I used to really like them! However as you said, I don’t think they are worth the price because there are tons of other mascaras at the drugstore that do an even better job 🙂 great post! x
I’m still on the quest for the perfect mascara too!I’ve never tried Lancome because of the cost. Thanks for all your honest reviews 🙂
Rachel xx
This looks amazing! I may need to get some of this!

i’d been thinking of trying this, but had been quite iffy about the price as well. suppose i now don’t have to go through the disappointment! i don’t think the quest for the perfect mascara will never end, haha.. also, i think all mascaras have a strange scent, not too overpowering but i’ve definitely noticed. or maybe i’m just a weirdo whiffing mascaras. xx
The result on your lashes is beautiful. Currently, I want try the new Sephora mascara, it looks great ! 🙂
Oh boy the things I’ve heard about this mascara. I tend to gravitate towards drugstore mascaras more but when I finally do go high end this will definitely be the first one i try!

I see what you mean 🙂 It’s a good mascara, but you could probably get better at that price. 🙂
