I’ve always been a bit WTF about white eyeliner – never understanding how it really works and thinking it would look stupid on me, so I decided to learn how to apply white eyeliner to brighten my eyes.

When I dressed up as Anna from Frozen, I was checking out make-up tutorials on YouTube to get a similar look to Anna. That’s when I finally took the plunge and gave it a go. I reached for the unopened white liner I’d bought months earlier and was quite happy with the results.

How to apply white eyeliner

Wearing white eyeliner can help you look more awake and make your eyes look bigger by making your eyeballs appear bigger. (that’s what she sa… nevermind :/)

Here’s how I use it:

  • Apply the liner to my lower water liner.
  • I think take a very thin, flat brush and line under my lash line with a dark brown eyeshadow on the outer corners of my eye.
  • Coming towards the middle of my eye, I pick a lighter brown to create a line under my lash line, stopping about two thirds of the way towards the innermost corner of my eye.
  • Apply mascara to finish the look.

Disclaimer: I’m aware I’ve probably described how to do this using amateur terminology πŸ˜€

  1. I love this idea!
I would never in a million years have considered white eyeliner.

I should do it soon πŸ™‚

  3. I don’t use eye liners and it’s my first time hearing that there’s a white eye liner! It looks good on you and you’re applying it like a pro! <3

  4. I used to get confused about wearing white eyeliner but now I love it. It really brightens up my eyes on days when I am half asleep! x

  5. My white liner has been sitting there for more than a year because I stopped using it. No idea why I stopped though, probably boils down to my laziness. LOL!
p/s: I think you described the application method really well! Nothing amateurish about it at all. xx

  7. looks really good on me ! but I have feeling it doesn’t make any change on my eyes πŸ™ cute post πŸ˜‰

  9. I definitely love adding some light color to brighten up the eye. I personally use a gold shimmer, but you look fabulous in white!

  10. i love eyeliner on others but cannot apply it myself. The only thing that I have used eyeliner for is to whiten my nails. Wet it and under the nail apply works a treat Lucy x

  11. I used to love using white eyeliner to brighter and open up my eyes when I was younger and have totally forgotten the magic of that. This was great!

  12. you look really nice! i’ve never used white eyeliner, but i think i’m a little traumatized by everyone else using it in high school to create, what we called, a “bird-poop-make-up” (because that’s what applying a huge amount of white eyeliner only to your inner eye corner looked like..) but i do like this! xx

  13. It does make quite a difference! I don’t wear white eyeliner but I do light to wear white eye shadow in the inner corner of my eye, I like the “I definitely had more than 5 hours sleep” look!

  14. This is a great trick, I used a really really pale pink or lilac or highlighting pencil, it does the same thing but isn’t as harsh as the white πŸ™‚
