With 5th November getting closer, I’ve rounded up the best firework displays in North Yorkshire and around York for 2026. From the big ticketed events with funfairs and street food to the little village bonfires, there’s something for every family.

Bonfire Night falls on a Thursday this year, so most of the big displays are on the weekends either side, Saturday 31 October and Saturday 7 November.

Updated September 2026: I’ve added the 2026 dates that have been announced so far, including Sledmere, Rawcliffe Country Park, Spilmans and Sandburn Hall. Where a display hasn’t confirmed this year’s date yet, I’ve included last year’s details so you know what to expect, and I’ll keep updating this as dates come out.

Top Firework Displays in North Yorkshire

Rawcliffe Country Park Bonfire And Fireworks, York

This is York’s biggest charity bonfire, run by volunteers with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, and every penny goes to The Fire Fighters Charity. Last year’s display raised over £41,000. There’s a huge bonfire, a funfair, live music, food stalls and a licensed bar.

Last year, gates opened at 4pm, with a kids’ display at 5:30pm, the bonfire lit at 7pm and the main display at 7:30pm. Tickets were £10 for adults, £5 for children and under 5s went free. Tickets usually go on sale in late October.

Date: Saturday 7th November 2026 Address: Rawcliffe Bar Country Park, York

Sledmere Fireworks

Sledmere Musical Fireworks Spectacular is one of the most popular firework events in the area. The show lights up the sky with fireworks set to a soundtrack in the grounds of Sledmere House, and families come back year after year.

There are fairground rides, street food stalls, hot chocolate for chilly hands, face painting, market stalls and of course a huge bonfire. There’s also a low-noise firework display for anyone who’s sensitive to loud bangs.

Date: Saturday 24th October 2026, 4pm to 9pm Address: Sledmere House, Sledmere, Driffield YO25 3XG

Spilmans Fireworks Extravaganza

I love Spilmans and have been to a few of their other events, but not their fireworks yet. The firework nights are part of the Pumpkin Festival, so you can do your pumpkin picking in the evening too.

It’s a live, orchestrated firework display set to music that starts at 7:45pm and lasts around 12 minutes. Around it, there’s marshmallow toasting over fire pits, festoon lights and picking pumpkins by moonlight. You need a separate fireworks ticket, daytime Pumpkin Festival tickets aren’t valid.

Dates: Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th October 2026 Address: Church Farm, Sessay, Thirsk, YO7 3NB

York Autumn Lights

York Autumn Lights is held at Elvington Airfield and it’s one of the biggest firework events near York, with two displays choreographed to music (one for children and a main display), a funfair, street food, bars and roaming performers.

The 2026 date hasn’t been announced yet. Last year it was on Monday 27th October, with gates from 3pm, the children’s display at 7:40pm and the main display at 9:15pm. Tickets were £16.99 for adults and £8.99 for children aged 4 to 16 online (more on the gate), under 3s were free and parking was included. It’s loud, so bring ear defenders for little ones (you can buy them there).

Date: 2026 TBC Address: Elvington Airfield, York YO41 4AU

Harrogate Autumn Lights

Harrogate Autumn Lights is run by the same people as York Autumn Lights, with the same mix of two firework displays, music and a traditional funfair with children’s rides.

Enjoy Bonfire Night!

A few things I’d bring to any firework display: wellies (most of these are in fields), a torch, gloves and a flask of something hot. If you’ve got little ones, ear defenders are worth their weight in gold, and it’s worth checking whether the bigger events have a children’s display earlier in the evening. Most of them do, and it means you can be home before the meltdowns start.

Which display are you going to this year? Let me know in the comments!
