Origin Timber Wooden Bed Frame and Origin Coolmax Latex Pillow Review

AD| Origin sells beds? Did you know that? I’m sure most of you will know Origin because of their high-quality mattresses. I do – because I own the Hybrid Pro Mattress by Origin – and it’s lush. We have had one in our master bedroom for about a year. When Origin got back in contact with me about trying their Origin Timber wooden bed frame, I jumped at the chance.

This house is two and a half times bigger than our old house, so we are slowly filling it with new things! One of the things we needed first was a bed for our son.

My Sons Bed

My son has had a mattress on the floor for the past couple of years – I can’t believe it’s been that long! It started because I was co-sleeping with him in our bed, while my husband was in the spare room. We decided to get rid of the cot, which he used a grand total of ZERO times and get a mattress on the floor so I could sleep in there with him, and my husband could move back to the main bedroom.

We never intended to just have a mattress on the floor for so long, but it seemed pointless to buy him a bed frame because then we would need to find a way to stop him from falling out, and this just worked for us. Don’t worry, though. Once a week, I propped it against the wall to ensure airflow.

I did look at getting floor beds, but we weren’t sure how long we would have this arrangement for, and we knew we would be moving house soon, so we decided to wait as there was a chance we would put him back into the cot bed if he took to sleeping alone. As time went by, it felt pointless to buy a new bed to just have to move it when we moved house, so we waited until now!

I picked the timer bed because I felt it was a timeless bed that would last my son for years. A simple, classic wooden bed – it will go with any decor, as his taste changes as he grows. I loved the Luxe Upholstered bed a well, because I didn’t think that would suit his room as much – it was probably a bit too old for him. I would love it though!

Origin Timber Wooden Bed Frame Review: First Impressions

Before I get into the details, here’s my quick verdict on the Origin timber wooden bed frame: it’s brilliant. Proper quality, easy to assemble, and exactly what we needed for my son’s room.

I picked the Origin timber wooden bed frame because it’s a classic design that’ll work for years as his taste changes. No gimmicks, no fussy details – just a solid wooden bed that looks good and does the job. The natural timber finish works with any decor, which is perfect for a kid’s room that you know you’ll be redecorating in a few years!

The Vision

He’s four – his old nursery was safari-themed, and this time, I’m going with woodland animals. It suits the existing green carpet and wallpaper in there, as well as his window view of our grade, which is full of trees!

The vision was to get the bed out of the corner of the room and place it between the wall sockets. I wanted to add bedside tables so we could put his books and Tonie box on, as well as his lamp ,and it would be a much more functional space!

Putting Up The Origin Timber Bed Frame

The bed arrived in two boxes, the delivery men left it downstairs, and I wanted to try to put it up myself. I unpacked it all and carried it upstairs bit by bit, motivated by the challenge of doing some DIY for myself – if you can call this DIY!

I was surprised by how easy it looked to put together. Everything just slots into place – is it going to be that easy?

The answer is yes – it was easy! The frame slotted into the legs, and then I put the bedframe on, which was probably the hardest part as I needed to use a bit of force to push the headboard onto the connectors, then put the centre support beam in and put two smaller pieces of wood in to support it in the middle. The slats were all tied together,r and you just lay them on top.

It was fast, easy and completely tool-free!

Origin Bed Frame Assembly: Is It Really Tool-Free?

One of the selling points of the Origin bed frame is that it’s tool-free assembly. I was sceptical – surely you need at least a screwdriver?

Nope! The Origin timber wooden bed frame genuinely slots together without any tools. It uses Japanese joinery, which means all the pieces have interlocking joints that just click into place. I put the whole thing together by myself in under 30 minutes (and I am NOT handy with flat-pack furniture!).

The hardest part was pushing the headboard onto the connectors – that needed a bit of force – but no tools. Everything else just slotted in. If you’re dreading the assembly process, don’t. This Origin bed frame is genuinely one of the easiest pieces of furniture I’ve ever put together.

The Beds Features

The bed is made from sustainable, solid Canadian timber, so it’s built to last, and you can sleep well knowing your bed is made from responsibly sourced materials. It’s solid and doesn’t creak. The slats are FlexiSlats for more comfort.

It has a simplistic style that has won awards for its innovative design. It’s crafted with Japanese Joinery, where all the pieces slot together with interlocking joints.

Origin Coolmax Latex Pillow Review

I was also sent the Origin Coolmax Latex Pillow, which I already knew we would love, as we have two on our bed. They are so plush and comfortable to sleep on.

The Origin Coolmax latex pillow is genuinely one of the best pillows I’ve tried. The natural latex is infused with cooling gel, which sounds gimmicky but actually works – no more flipping your pillow to find the cool side at 3am!

What I love most about these pillows is the support. They’re not too firm, not too soft – just the right amount of support for your head and neck. I used to wake up with neck ache from rubbish pillows, and I haven’t had that since switching to these.

The fact you can unzip and wash the top layer is brilliant too. Pillows get gross (sorry, but it’s true), and being able to actually clean them properly is a game-changer.

Origin Timber Wooden Bed Frame: Worth The Money?

The Origin timber wooden bed frame isn’t the cheapest bed you’ll find, so is it worth it?

For me, yes. The quality is excellent – solid Canadian timber, sustainable materials, and proper craftsmanship. It doesn’t creak (which cheap beds always do), and I genuinely think it’ll last my son until he’s a teenager.

Plus, you get a 200-night trial, so if you’re not happy, you can return it. And there’s a 5-year warranty, which shows they stand behind the quality. For a bed that’ll last years and looks this good, I think it’s worth the investment.

As you can tell, I’m really happy with the bed. It’s exactly what I had in mind for my little boy – something that will grow with him. I’ve totally made the most of being able to pick his room decor for probably the last time until he starts asking to pick his own bedding.

The next thing is to remove the current curtain poles so I can put new ones up and replace the curtains.

I’m so happy he’s room is coming together now, it looks so much better now there’s an actual bed in there!
