For most folks, including me, the morning rush is a familiar dance – hitting snooze one too many times, scrambling to get dressed, and racing out the door with a half-eaten breakfast in hand. This has been me in the past, and I hated it. But what if there was a way to reclaim those precious minutes of sleep without sacrificing your sanity? Does anyone actually want to wake up an hour just so they look just slightly more presentable for work? Is there actually a balance? Well, thankfully, yes!

For the most part, you can make your morning routine go drastically easier; it’s all about streamlining it. For example, putting on minimalist makeup– simple, fast and easy.  But that’s not all; there are so many other ways to make things simple so you can sleep in. So, with that all said, where do you even begin? Well, here’s exactly what you need to know!

Prep the Night Before

The key to a smooth morning routine lies in preparation. Really, you don’t have to be frantic early in the morning and then decide what to wear (it just adds way more stress than it needs to). So, just take a few minutes each night to set yourself up for success the next day. Lay out your clothes, pack your bag, and prep your breakfast and lunch ahead of time.

Yep, just do it all the night before; it makes things so much easier. These don’t have to be elaborate, either, like overnight oats or a sandwich the night before, which works just fine for the next day. Just by taking care of these tasks in advance, you’ll save yourself valuable time and mental energy in the morning.

Don’t Shower in the Morning

So this goes with what was basically being said above: don’t do this in the morning. You don’t need to shower in the morning; you’re better off doing it at night because it helps relax the body for sleep. Instead, if you need to do something with your hair, just spray it with some dry shampoo or just use a simple hairdo (emphasis on the word simple) if you’re having a bad hair day. Just generally speaking, even if you take a short shower, you still need time to dry your hair; every second counts and that’s every second you could have been in bed!

Consider a Capsule Wardrobe

Ever find yourself staring blankly into your closet, unable to decide what to wear? That’s a major problem, and it’s a lot worse when you’re trying to get dressed in the mornings. So, if you streamline your morning routine by simplifying your wardrobe, it can make things so much easier. Basically, you’re going to want to streamline your wardrobe.

What this means is that you’re going to want to invest in versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched easily so you can create stylish outfits in a pinch. It’s about having timeless staples, as these make you more mindful of what you owe and what can be paired.

Skip the Extensive Skincare Routine

If you have a ten- or even twenty-step skincare routine, you need to keep in mind the amount of time this takes in the morning. This can be fine at night, but maybe not in the morning. Figure out a way to shorten everything down. Sometimes, this means buying products that are mixed together (like foundation and SPF). But this is something to consider.

I’d love to know your thoughts!
