I’ll be honest — I signed up for Lemon8 with the best of intentions. Another app, another content platform, another thing to post consistently on. Because clearly what I needed in my life was more channels to keep on top of.
Anyway. That went about as well as you’d expect.
If you’ve ended up here, I’m guessing you’re in the same boat. Either Lemon8 didn’t stick for you, you signed up on a whim and barely used it, or you’re just doing a general clear-out of apps that are quietly sitting on your phone judging you. Whatever the reason, deleting your Lemon8 account is genuinely painless — and the question I see come up constantly is whether doing it will mess with your TikTok.
It won’t. They’re separate accounts. More on that in a sec.
Here’s exactly how to do it.
Will Deleting Lemon8 Affect My TikTok?
No. Full stop.
I know they’re both ByteDance apps, and yes, you can log into Lemon8 using your TikTok account — which is probably why so many people assume they’re linked in some permanent way. But deleting your Lemon8 account only deletes your Lemon8 account. Your TikTok stays completely untouched.
The two platforms share a parent company, not your data or account status. So you can go ahead and delete Lemon8 without a second thought about what happens over on TikTok.
How to Delete Your Lemon8 Account on iPhone or Android
The steps are the same whether you’re on iOS or Android. You need to do this from within the app itself — you can’t delete your account from a browser.
Step 1: Open the Lemon8 app and tap on your profile icon in the bottom right corner.
Step 2: Tap the three lines (the hamburger menu) in the top right corner to open your settings.
Step 3: Tap ‘Settings’, then scroll down until you see ‘Account’.
Step 4: Tap ‘Delete Account’.
Step 5: Lemon8 will ask you to confirm. Read through what you’re agreeing to, then confirm you want to go ahead.
Step 6: Enter your password or verify via TikTok/Apple/Google (whichever you used to sign up) when prompted.
That’s it. The deletion request goes through immediately.
Is There a Waiting Period?
Yes — Lemon8 has a 30-day cooling-off period before your account is permanently deleted. During those 30 days, your profile and content will be deactivated (so nobody can see them), but the account isn’t fully gone yet.
If you change your mind within that window, you can log back in and cancel the deletion. After 30 days, it’s permanent and your content, followers, and data are removed.
What Happens to Your Data?
Once the 30 days are up and your account is permanently deleted:
- Your profile is removed
- Your posts, comments, and likes are deleted
- Your followers and following lists are wiped
- Your DMs are gone
If you want to keep any of your Lemon8 content (photos, videos, captions), download it before you request deletion. There’s no way to retrieve it once the 30 days have passed and the account is gone.
What If You Can’t Find the Delete Option?
Apps update their interfaces fairly regularly, so if the menu looks slightly different from what I’ve described above, try this:
- Profile > three lines > Settings > Privacy and Safety — some versions of the app nest account deletion under Privacy rather than Account.
- Search within Settings — if there’s a search bar in your settings, type “delete” and it should surface the right page.
If you genuinely can’t find it or the app is glitching, you can also contact Lemon8 support via the Help Centre and request account deletion directly. It’s slower but it works.
What If I Just Want a Break Rather Than a Full Delete?
If you’re not sure yet and just want to step back for a bit, you don’t have to delete entirely. You can:
- Delete the app from your phone without deleting your account. Your account stays live, you just won’t see notifications or be tempted to scroll.
- Archive or make your posts private, so your content isn’t visible while you’re not actively using it.
These aren’t official “deactivation” options the way Instagram has them, but they do the job if you want a lower-commitment break first.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, there’s no drama to it. Lemon8 is easy enough to delete and the steps above should have you sorted in about two minutes. The TikTok link worries a lot of people but you genuinely don’t need to stress about it — your TikTok account is completely safe.
If you signed up back when everyone was getting on it and just never really got going with it, you’re in good company. It’s one of those apps that had a moment and then kind of… didn’t. No shame in closing the chapter.
