Hexclad claims its cookware mixes stainless steel’s durability with non-stick convenience thanks to its patented laser-etched hexagonal design. These pans are not phased by high temperatures or metal utensils.

They’re versatile – good for everything from frying an egg on medium heat to searing meat properly. Plus, it’s such an easy cleanup, whether by hand or dishwasher.

So let’s find out how each pan held up in my kitchen with their non-stick surface, shape ergonomics and overall durability among other factors.

About Hexclad Pans

Hexclad pans are designed with a unique hexagonal pattern that underpins their non-stick ability. The aluminium core and stainless steel base provide even heat distribution, while the scratch-resistant surface means they are durable.

What makes HexClad different from other cookware? They’re hybrid pans – meaning they combine the best features of three different pan types:

  • Like stainless steel: Durable, even heat distribution, and non-reactive
  • Like cast iron: Can handle high heat and develops a lovely sear
  • Like non-stick: Food releases easily without loads of oil or butter

The technology behind this is their patented laser-etched hexagonal design. The raised steel hexagons allow for browning and searing, while the non-stick valleys (infused with diamond dust for extra durability) prevent food from sticking. It’s clever stuff, really.

These hybrid pans are tailored for ease of use and improved cooking experience, making them a go-to choice for home cooks seeking more than just traditional nonstick or stainless-steel pans. They’re designed to be the last pans you’ll ever need to buy – which is a bold claim we’ll test throughout this review.

Does Gordon Ramsay actually use HexClad pans? Yes, he uses them in his home kitchen and has featured them on shows like Next Level Chef and in his cookbook “Ramsay in 10.” While his professional restaurant kitchens still use traditional stainless steel and copper, Gordon Ramsay HexClad pans are genuinely his go-to for home cooking. He’s also an investor in the company, which gives him a financial stake beyond just endorsement.

Hexclad Features

Hexclad pans have a laser-etched hexagonal pattern that helps with durability and easy cleanup. I’ve tried three of their cookware pieces: a wok, a hybrid pan, and another hybrid pan – plus lids.

Each has a scratch-resistant surface. They claim these pans work on all cooktops – even induction – and can brave the oven’s heat up to 500°F. They’re also dishwasher-safe! Whoo! They can withstand a good beating without being scratched by metal utensils or abrasive sponges.

If you want to cook the perfect eggs or searing tomato sauce on a medium-low heat without it becoming part of the pan, then this line of cookware is for you.

They promise even heat distribution for perfect sears. And they have a lifetime warranty.

Gordon Ramsay’s endorsement

Gordon Ramsay doesn’t just endorse HexClad – he’s genuinely enthusiastic about them. He’s called them “the Rolls Royce of pans” and uses them in his own home kitchen (not just for the cameras).

What does Gordon Ramsay say about HexClad pans? He loves that they can handle the intense heat needed for proper searing while still being non-stick enough for delicate foods. For a chef who’s notoriously particular about kitchen equipment, that’s quite the endorsement.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – is this just a paid celebrity endorsement? Well, yes, he does have a partnership with the brand. But here’s the thing: Gordon Ramsay’s reputation is built on his exacting standards. He’s not going to put his name on rubbish cookware. Other Michelin-starred chefs have also praised HexClad, which adds credibility beyond just one celebrity face.

If you’ve ever watched Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, then you’ll know if they’re good enough for him, they must be good! But the real question is: are they good enough for the average home cook? That’s what I set out to discover.

What Do HexClad Reviews Say About Gordon Ramsay Pans?

HexClad reviews across platforms are generally positive but mixed on value for money. On Amazon UK, HexClad Gordon Ramsay pans average 4.3/5 stars from thousands of reviews. Positive HexClad reviews praise the durability, even heating, and genuine non-stick performance. Critical reviews mention the high price point and that they require proper preheating technique (they’re not completely foolproof like some marketing suggests).

Professional reviews from Good Housekeeping and Homes & Gardens gave Gordon Ramsay pans high marks for performance, with most testers agreeing the hybrid technology works as advertised. The main criticism? You’re paying a premium partly for the Gordon Ramsay endorsement and branding.

My Hexclad Review

Now, the bit you’re all here for – my review of Hexclad Pans.

Non-stick ability

I’ve given three Hexclad items a go: their wok, hybrid pan and hybrid wok. I have to say, the non-stick surface is impressive.

I cooked a fried egg with zero butter or oil – it slid straight out of the pan thanks to the hexagon pattern and diamond dust in the coating.

Durability

I’ve put three of these pans through the wringer, as well as their tempered glass lids, you can see right through.

Hexclad’s scratch-resistant exterior isn’t just for show. You can go at it with steel wool (not that you’d need to, as they clean easily!) and they’ll still look as good as new. Their unique structure distributes heat so evenly that it cooks food to perfection without bending out of shape from excessive heat or improper use over time.

Stay Cool Handle

One of my favourite things about these pans is the stay-cool handles! The handles are comfortable to grip and cool to touch,h even when you’re using high heat. I made a stir fry in the large wok and was easily able to hold onto the handles when stirring it or pouring food onto a plate! The weight of the pan means its easy to handle, also.

Even, Quick Heat

I made a stir-fry in the Hexclad wok and started by cooking the onions, and they cooked so quickly! They were cooked and ready for the next ingredients in a few minute,s rather than taking about 10 minutes like our normal pan.

Easy To Clean

These pans clean really well, just need a bit of soapy water and a sponge and the dirt comes right off!

What I’ve Learned After Months of Use

Here’s the thing about reviewing cookware – you can’t truly judge it after one or two uses. I’ve been using these HexClad pans for several months now, and there are a few things I’ve noticed that only become apparent with regular use.

The Non-Stick Does Require Proper Technique

While the non-stick surface is genuinely impressive, I learned the hard way that you do need to preheat the pan properly and use a bit of oil or butter. My first attempt at cooking eggs without any fat resulted in some sticking – not terrible, but not the effortless slide I’d expected. Once I started preheating for a minute or two and adding a small amount of oil, everything worked perfectly.

They’ve Held Up Brilliantly

After months of regular use, including some proper abuse (I’ve definitely scraped them with metal utensils more times than I should admit), they still look almost new. There’s some very slight discolouration on the base of the wok where it sits on the hob, but nothing that affects performance. The non-stick coating is still going strong.

The Weight is Noticeable

These pans have some heft to them – not as heavy as cast iron, but definitely heavier than cheap non-stick pans. For me, this is actually a positive as it feels quality and sturdy. However, if you have wrist issues or find heavy pans difficult to manage, this is worth considering.

They Really Are Versatile

I genuinely have found myself reaching for these pans for almost everything. The hybrid wok is brilliant for stir-fries (obviously), but I’ve also used it for pasta dishes, curries, and even as a makeshift deep pan for sauce. The hybrid pan has become my go-to for everything from eggs to searing chicken thighs.

Dishwasher vs Hand Washing

They claim to be dishwasher safe, and I’ve put them through the dishwasher several times without issue. That said, they’re so easy to clean by hand that I usually just give them a quick wash with soapy water. It takes literally 30 seconds.

Pros and Cons of Hexclad Pans

Pros

  • Genuinely non-stick – when used properly with preheating and a bit of oil
  • They look great in the kitchen – sleek, professional appearance
  • Stay-cool handles – comfortable to grip even during high-heat cooking
  • Even, quick heating – no hot spots, cooks food consistently
  • Scratch-resistant surface – can use metal utensils without worry
  • Can withstand high heat – oven-safe up to 500°F
  • Easy cleanup – hand wash in seconds or pop in the dishwasher
  • Work on all cooktops – including induction
  • Endorsed by Chef Gordon Ramsay and other professional chefs
  • Lifetime warranty – they stand behind their product
  • Replace multiple pan types – can do the job of stainless steel, cast iron, and non-stick
  • Durable construction – these will last for years

Cons

  • Expensive – there’s no getting around it, these are a significant investment
  • Heavy – heavier than standard non-stick pans (though lighter than cast iron)
  • UK pricing premium – £99-£169 per pan; sets start at £329
  • Requires proper technique – you need to preheat and use some oil for best results
  • Not completely foolproof – despite marketing claims, eggs can stick if you don’t preheat properly
  • Some discolouration over time – minor aesthetic issue, doesn’t affect performance

The Price Question: You are getting good quality pans here that will last you a lifetime, so you have to expect to pay for what you get! As expected, pans endorsed by a chef like Gordon Ramsay are of great quality. The question is whether the price is justified for your cooking needs.

If you cook daily and want to replace multiple pan types with one versatile option, the investment makes more sense. If you only cook occasionally or are happy with your current pans, the price might be harder to justify. For me, using them daily has made the cost worthwhile – but I completely understand why some people might balk at the price tag.

Is Hexclad Worth the Hype?

I am genuinely impressed with these pans after months of regular use, and I believe they are worth the hype – with some caveats. If you want long-lasting cookware that is of great quality and will genuinely improve your cooking experience, then they’re worth the investment. They are honestly the best pans I’ve used in my years of home cooking.

My recommendations:

  • The HexClad hybrid pan is brilliant for multi-use – it’s become my everyday workhorse
  • The wok is amazing for stir-fries and handles high heat like a dream
  • Both are worth the money if you cook regularly and want pans that’ll last

Who should buy HexClad pans:

  • Regular home cooks who want quality cookware
  • Anyone looking to replace multiple pan types with versatile hybrids
  • People who want professional-quality pans without the fuss of cast iron
  • Those willing to invest in lifetime cookware

Who might want to skip them:

  • Casual cooks who only use pans occasionally
  • Anyone on a tight budget (there are good cheaper alternatives)
  • People who prefer ultra-lightweight cookware

The bottom line? These Gordon Ramsay pots and pans live up to the hype for serious home cooks. Yes, they’re expensive. Yes, you need to use them properly. But they’re genuinely excellent pans that I reach for every single day.

Frequently Asked Questions About HexClad Pans

Are Gordon Ramsay’s HexClad pans really worth the money? After months of testing, I believe they are if you cook regularly and want one versatile pan that can handle everything. The lifetime warranty and durability mean you’re making a long-term investment. However, if you’re a casual cook or on a tight budget, there are cheaper alternatives that might suit your needs better.

Can you use metal utensils on HexClad pans? Yes! I’ve been using metal spatulas, tongs, and whisks without any issues. The raised stainless steel hexagons protect the non-stick coating from damage. That said, I still try to be reasonably careful – no need to go at them with a knife!

Why does food stick to my HexClad pan? If you’re experiencing sticking, it’s usually because the pan isn’t preheated properly or you haven’t used enough oil or butter. HexClad pans need to be heated for about 1-2 minutes before adding food, and while they’re non-stick, they’re not completely fat-free like traditional Teflon pans. A small amount of oil makes a huge difference.

How do you clean HexClad pans? They’re incredibly easy to clean – just warm soapy water and a sponge does the trick. They’re also dishwasher safe if you prefer. I usually just hand wash mine as it takes less than a minute. No need for scrubbing or special cleaners.

Are HexClad pans oven safe? Yes, they’re oven safe up to 500°F (260°C), though the lids are safe to 400°F. This makes them brilliant for dishes that start on the hob and finish in the oven.

Do HexClad pans work on induction hobs? Yes! They work on all cooktop types including induction, gas, electric, and ceramic. The stainless steel base ensures compatibility with induction.

How long do HexClad pans last? HexClad offers a lifetime warranty, which suggests confidence in their durability. After several months of heavy use, mine show minimal wear. If cared for properly, I’d expect these to last for many years – potentially decades.

Are HexClad pans toxic or safe? HexClad states their non-stick coating is PFOA-free. However, there has been a recent class-action lawsuit regarding PFAS content claims. HexClad maintains their pans are safe and the lawsuit has been settled. The pans haven’t been recalled and are still considered safe to use. As with any non-stick cookware, avoid overheating and don’t use them if the coating becomes damaged.

What’s the best HexClad pan to buy first? I’d recommend starting with the 12-inch hybrid pan – it’s the most versatile size for everyday cooking. You can use it for everything from frying eggs to cooking for a family. If you love stir-fries or Asian cooking, the wok is absolutely brilliant.

Does HexClad ever go on sale? Occasionally, yes! Keep an eye out around major shopping events like Black Friday or Amazon Prime Day. They sometimes offer bundle deals that work out cheaper than buying pans individually.

Does Gordon Ramsay really use HexClad pans or is it just marketing? Gordon Ramsay does genuinely use HexClad Gordon Ramsay pans in his home kitchen – not just for promotional purposes. He’s featured them in his TV shows, cookbooks, and social media. That said, he’s also an investor in HexClad, so he has a financial interest. His professional restaurants still use traditional commercial cookware, but for home cooking, he does reach for HexClad.

Does Gordon Ramsay own HexClad? This is the most-searched question about these pans, so let’s answer it upfront. Gordon Ramsay doesn’t own HexClad outright — but he is a genuine investor in the brand, not just a paid face. He uses the pans in his home kitchen, has featured them on Next Level Chef and in his cookbook Ramsay in 10, and has a financial stake in the company. So when he calls them “the Rolls Royce of pans,” there’s real skin in the game, not just a cheque. His professional restaurants still use traditional stainless steel, but for home cooking, HexClad is genuinely his go-to.

Are there cheaper alternatives to Gordon Ramsay HexClad pans? Yes, brands like Ninja Zerostick, ProCook Diamond, and Tefal Jamie Oliver ranges offer similar hybrid technology at lower prices (£40-£80 vs £100-£150). HexClad reviews suggest their pans are more durable and the hexagonal pattern is patented technology. If budget is tight, these alternatives are worth considering, but expect to replace them sooner than HexClad.

Current Deals on HexClad Gordon Ramsay Pans (February 2026): HexClad occasionally runs sales offering 20-30% off, particularly during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and seasonal events. Bundle sets offer better value than buying individual pans. Check HexClad.com and Amazon UK for current promotions.

This HexClad Gordon Ramsay review is based on months of personal testing. I was gifted these pans but all opinions are my own honest assessment.
