Since I moved into the new house I’ve wanted to put rustic kitchen shelves between the French doors and windows. It was just a blank white wall before. I did toy with the idea of getting another set of double cupboards put there but decided on shelving.
Why I love rustic kitchen shelves
Rustic kitchen shelves are a popular design feature in many homes and kitchens, particularly those with a farmhouse or country-style aesthetic. These shelves are usually made from natural materials such as wood or wrought iron. They tend to have a distressed or weathered finish to create a rustic and vintage look.
One of the things I love about rustic kitchen shelves is their versatility. Not only do they look great, but they can also be used to store a wide range of kitchen items, from cookbooks and dishes to jars of spices and herbs. The open design of the shelves also makes it easy to access items, making them a practical choice for busy kitchens.
Rustic kitchen shelves can be customised to suit a variety of tastes and preferences. They can be mounted on the wall or suspended from the ceiling using chains or ropes and can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit different spaces.
Another benefit of rustic kitchen shelves is that they are relatively easy to install and maintain. Most shelves can be mounted with basic tools and hardware, and the natural materials used in their construction are durable and easy to clean.
I just think rustic kitchen shelves add a charming and functional element to a kitchen design, and are a popular choice for those looking to create a warm and inviting space with a touch of vintage charm.
My kitchen shelves
It took a really long time for me to get my act in gear, then once when dying of morning sickness, I saw my friend (Gemma, Instagramer extraordinaire and neighbour) had some shelves exactly the same style as I wanted so I asked where she got them from. It’s a shop on Etsy called Ashley Moore Furniture. They sell lots of rustic-style home products. You can pick which colour of wood and the length of the shelves.
They didn’t take too long to come, I think around a week.
I need to style them properly, for now, I’ve just put a few things on that we had around the house. I’m thinking of getting glass jars to put pasta and rice in to save a bit of cupboard space!
They also have deeper 30cm ones which I think I’m going to get fo the utility room so we can store things better. At the moment it’s just a bit of a dumping ground so it would be nice to get it organised a bit!
