Whether you blog has been gathering dust at the back of the internet for the past few weeks, or you’ve been posting but feeling pretty directionless – like you’re just going through the motions rather than having content with meaning, then this post is for you.
I get it, summer is a busy time. I know – I’ve been busy, I moved house, had weddings to attend, had friends and family over for a few weekends, had food poisoning that knocked me out for a week (yes, I’m still going on about it!) and I’ve generally been busy with other things. Blogging hasn’t been something I’ve been so excited about.
I just go through phases where I sometimes I have all this passion and idea, then other times, I just don’t. Which is fine. It’ll come back (I hope).
But if you’re wanting to try and reignite that passion, here are some things that can help!
Read things that inspire you.
This could be your favourite blogs, scrolling through Twitter or even going on Pinterest. Those blogs that inspire you are a great way to get your mind thinking about the content you want to create.
Look at new themes.
When you go onto your website, do you think it’s beautiful? Are you proud to show it off to others?
If not, then maybe you need to look into getting a new theme. There are lots of free WordPress themes about for you to try! Once you are happy with your blog, you’ll be more inspired to fill it with content.
Plan your content.
Rather than sitting looking at a blank screen, plan what you would like to write about. Content that you could use as a theme or series always works well, I recently did a series of posts on dresses in different colours – a wishlist of purple, then one of red etc etc.
Try to figure out why.
If your posting schedule has gone a bit off track. Are you putting too much pressure on yourself? Do you need a break? Are you trying to write about things you’re not passionate about? Are you getting distracted by other things? Do you have other things going on in your life that need more attention?
Discovering the reason for your lack of posting can be the key to understanding what’s going on and overcoming it. You may simply need a break, or you might need to take your blog in a whole new direction if you are forcing yourself to stay in a niche that you have moved on from.
Make new friends.
Get yourself on Twitter and Instagram and make some new friends! Join in with conversations and don’t be afraid to slide into someones DMs. Making new friends in the blogging community is a great way to share ideas and get inspired!
