I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do a goal post. I’ve secretly set goals inside my head but not written them down anywhere because I wanted to bin off goals this year and just go with the flow a bit.

But the truth is, talking about my goals really helps me stay motivated and focused.

2022 was a good year for me. I’ve increased my blog income from the previous year but I didn’t really do much else in terms of growth. I sucked at social media and really lost my passion for it. Time to get back on track.

So here are some goals.

Business

Write one blog post a month

I used to write lots of blog posts but I’ve only been doing paid work at the moment. I want to write at least one blog post a month that isn’t sponsored. Just something I’m super passionate about and put a lot of effort into.

This blog post needs to be a piece of content that I research, SEO up and is long. One brilliant blog post a month and the rest will be sponsored work.

Increase my income

I’d like to increase my blog income by £3000 on the year. I earn a decent amount now but I really want to keep that number increasing!

Monetise my YouTube

I’ve been posting about my piano journey on my YouTube channel. As piano is a passion of mine, I’d love to grow my YouTube channel so I can earn money for playing. How great does that sound?

I need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours for that though, It’s frustrating because I used to be able to earn money on my channel and then they changed it all.

I’d appreciate any subs:

Personal Finance

Despite the cost of living, 2022 was a good year for us financially. I don’t want to get into the details as our finances involve my husband and well as me and it’s not fair to put them on the internet but we were able to overpay our mortgage and save a fair bit.

For 2023 I’d like to overpay the mortgage by £4000 and save an additional £4000.

Health

Eat more vegetables

My diet has been dog shit since Leo. I have to sort it out. I don’t really want to lose weight but I just want to eat better so I can feel better.

More fruit and veggies, less crisps and chocolate.

No alcohol

I’ve not had a drink since August. I’ve spoken a lot in the past about my relationship with alcohol and I’ve quit a few times in the past. Although I don’t drink a lot anymore, my hangovers are bad on just two or three drinks so I need to just stay away from it completely.

No caffeine

I recently quit caffeine as I realised it was giving me vertigo and hot flushes. It also makes me feel sick sometimes. I’ve just been drinking decaf tea and coffee instead, It’s made me feel so much better!

Exercise

I want to exercise more in 2023. It won’t be a lot due to time. As I have Leo on my own 6 days a week, it’s impossible to exercise then. So when possible, I want to into my gym on a Sunday morning and do some spin bike and strength training on my back and core.

I just want to increase my cardio fitness and also increase my back/core strength to help my back pain.

Piano

I’ve been pianoing like mad since June. After about 18 months off, I’ve been playing 10-15 hours a week, I love it. I wish I had more time to play! I’m currently working on some grade 6 pieces. My goals are to be working on some grade 7 pieces by July so I am ready to move on to grade 8 by 2024.

So, those are my goals for the year.

I’d love to hear yours!

  1. Had no idea you had YouTube so I’ll head over and subscribe! I also really want to start eating better (for how I feel not how I look) plus start exercising again but god knows when I’ll find the time for that!

  2. Thank you for sharing your goals Corinne. Some of them are very similar to mine. I also want to invest my time in exercise, and I want to start posting on my blog more after a bit of a lull. I also want to cut down my alcohol 🙂 Great post!

  3. Great goals, Corinne! Wishing you all the best with them throughout 2023. I think there’s definitely a fine line between wanting to go with the flow and setting goals to keep you motivated. I don’t do yearly goals anymore but stick to monthly ones, which do keep me very motivated. I don’t drink caffeine either as it gives me heart palpitations and I’ve felt so much better without it for around a year now. Decaf tea is nice and I ask for decaf in Starbucks all the time and don’t know any different!

  4. That’s awesome you have health on the list. Very important to focus on our health. I wish you best of luck with your goals!

  5. i quit drinking alcohol this past summer as well & haven’t looked back. i feel so much healthier. these are great goals to have & am wishing you all the best in the new year!

  6. These are great and realistic goals. I think you’re going to be able to hit all of them! I just subbed to your youtube channel! I was thinking of uploading again on my youtube channel. I used to do more lifestyle content, but since I started a Bookstagram account and have been enjoying chatting books with people, I think I’ll really enjoy doing more book style youtube videos! I hope you reach your goals 🙂 xx
