AD| I often set myself goals at the start of each yet but it’s not common for me to set long-term goals. Long term goals sound scary, 5 years is a long time so there’s are quite big goals – which can be intimedating. I’ve been thinking lately about what I want my life to look like in the future. My life has changed so much in the last 5 years. 5 years ago I had just moved in with my boyfriend. Now I am married, have a child, I a am a homeowner and I left work to become a self-employed full-time blogger. It’s amazing how things can change so quickly! With that in mind, I’ve created my own 5-year plan.

Move house
In a couple of years, we would like to move to a bigger house. We’ve outgrown our 3-bedroomed home and are ready for something bigger. My husband and I both have hobbies and would like more space. I would like an office to work from now I blog full-time and I’d also like space for an acoustic piano. My husband would like more outdoor space – we our very over looked where we live now and although it’s a detached house, it’s really close to the neighbours as newbuild houses are so cramped in. He just wants more privacy.
Ideally, I would have a room downstairs that would be both an office and a music studio for me, though I’d be happy to have my piano in the living room and just have my digital piano in my office. My husband also would like his own space to play the guitar. We cram all this into our spare room (along with a guest bed) at the moment and it’s not ideal!
Moving house is definantly stressful though so getting help from movers like from this website will be a must!
Become an expert in SEO
I feel like I’ve really taken my foot off the pedal with SEO lately and need to learn more. I used to be up to date with all the latest news and learn new things constantly but since having my baby, this has fallen down a little. I want to get back into the habit of reading the latest updates regarding SEO and get back on top of it all.
Take on more copywriting clients
For the past few months, I’ve been bee copywriting as an additional income stream. I would love to grow my clients with this for more job security. I do find copywriting quite stressful as I am keen to impress and have to fact-check a lot, but it’s a great experience.
Embrace renewable energy
I’ve written a few posts over the past year or two about how we are moving towards a sustainable lifestyle. I know I am not alone in this! I’d like to get solar panels. We will probably get them on the new house. I have looked into getting them on this house but it’s just weighing up the cost of them vs how much they will increase the value of the house. It’s quite interesting when you get into learning about solar panels, they work, photovoltaic and thermal ones and such!
I also would like to get an electric car. This is a tough one as they are really expensive and I’m against buying a car on finance – I’d rather just get an older car that I can pay cash for. As we’re putting all our money into the new house, we don’t have £30k or whatever to spend on a new car.
Maybe in a few years there will be some older ones we can afford to buy outright!
Take my piano playing from intermediate to advanced
At the moment, I’m about intermediate for piano. I hardly played any piano when Leo was first born until this summer so I’ve took about 18 months off. I have played some but not enough to improve, just to keep my skills at their current level. I’ve now got back into a regular practice routine and I’m so excited to improve and plan to continue lessons again when Leo goes to nursey.
So that’s my 5 year plan. What’s yours?
These are some great goals to have over the next 5 years. They seem like some really achievable goals. I definitely would like to buy my house, I haven’t thought much about anything else right now. But I definitely at the end of the year will think about my plan. Thank you for sharing your 5 year plan.
Great plans, I’m trying to become an SEO expert as well. I wish you the best of luck with the new plan. I’m sure you got this!
I love that you have a 5-year plan. Most people don’t think of having a plan, let alone write it down. You just inspired me to do the same as I just started a self-growth journey this year and I’m working towards being a content writer (I have yet to find my 1st client). I think everyone should do this and update it as they go. Very good post and great goals. Thank you for sharing and I wish you the best with your journey 🙂
Thank you for sharing your plans with us – best of luck in completing it all!
