Websites today are complicated, aren’t they? There are so many different elements and facets that go into creating the perfect website. From your landing page to your contact details, you need to make sure that everything is constructed to perfection. That’s without even mentioning the structure of the backend of your website and the way you incorporate content. There is certainly a lot to take into account. If you have a website but it is simply not performing as well as you expected it to, you may be feeling at a bit of a loss. Below, we will take a look at some of the different things that prevent websites from succeeding so that you can, hopefully, diagnose where you are going wrong and make the amendments that are needed.

Your website is too slow to load and people are getting fed-up – We can guarantee that this is where many people are going wrong when it comes to their website. How long does your site take to load? There are plenty of online tools that will enable you to get an accurate figure. If your website is slow, people will get frustrated. They won’t wait around. After all, we use the Internet for convenience. Instead, they will simply close your website and go elsewhere – typically to a competitor. This is why you need to make sure your site is quick. From changing your web host to compressing images, there are many ways you can do this.

You ask for too much information during the checkout process – Another reason why your website may not be performing as well as you had anticipated is that you have made the checkout process too long-winded and you’re making people jump through hoops. Your checkout process needs to be optimised to encourage as many conversions as possible, and this is something an expert ecommerce SEO agency can assist with. If you currently require people to sign-up and become a member and/or you have a wealth of unnecessary fields in the checkout process, a lot of people will get fed-up and they will simply give up! This is why you need to make sure that the checkout process is as quick and easy as possible.

Your SEO is letting your site down – You may have a website that simply looks incredible! It may have a great layout, lots of exciting features, and a fun colour scheme. However, if no one sees the website, it’s not going to be much of a hit, as it won’t be able to wow anyone! This is why SEO plays a huge role when it comes to the success of your website. Search engine optimisation is all about getting your website in front of the right people by ensuring that it features high up on the search engine result pages whenever anyone makes a relevant search. If your website is suffering because your traffic levels are low, it is certainly time for you to take a look at your SEO strategy so you can determine where changes can be made.

Your website is too complicated – Finally, another reason why your website may not be the success you had hoped it would be is that it is too complicated. When someone lands on your website, navigation should be incredibly easy. The viewer should not need to have a second thought about what to do next; they should be able to do it without thinking. If you have overcomplicated things, frustration sets in, and again, this will lead to people leaving your website. After all, no one lands on a site to work out a puzzle. They want to get the information they need quickly or to find the products or services they are looking for. Simplifying your site can make a huge difference.

blogging success

To conclude, there are many different reasons why your website may not be reaching the heights that you had hoped for. From the checkout process being too long to your website being way too slow, it is important to get to the bottom of where you are going wrong so that you can make the changes that are needed and start seeing the results you had hoped for. If you are really struggling, the best thing to do would be to work with a website development expert who can audit your website to determine where you are really going wrong and make the required adjustments so that you can see more success online.

  1. Great insights!
Although I do not run a commercial blog or website, obviously I visit a lot of them – and these are insights I should consider when I decide to do post(s) on my own blog(s).
Learning more about SEO would be helpful – I know almost nothing about it!
What you wrote about web pages taking too long to load and about websites being too complicated is oh so true!!!
I know those things have caused me to leave websites many times in the past.
I can see how making use of your insights and/or those of other website development experts could be invaluable.
    Great tips!
