Hi hi hi. Valentines Cheese & Meat – what could be better?
So, yesterday it was Valentine’s day and as we can’t go out for a meal due to lockdown and our tiny little baby (see below) we decided to have a cheese and meat board. This is pretty much what we do every time we want to celebrate lately Because it’s yummy and I couldn’t have cured meat when I was pregnant.
The British Hemp Company have recently launched and they sent me some goodies to try out. Hemp seeds are natures superfood and omegas 3, 6 and 9, protein, calcium, iron, phosphorous, magnesium, antioxidants, potassium and plenty of protein. They’re also vegan, gluten-free and high in fibre. I’ve been eating so bad lately as breastfeeding makes me so hungry, so I reach for easy things to eat quickly as I don’t have time to make healthy food with a baby who wants to be held all the time, so I can do with all the help I can get when it comes to nutrition!
I decided to use the hemp seed oil to make a salad dressing as it’s not suitable for frying. It was easy to make, just one part balsamic vinegar and three parts oil then I added salt and vinegar. I put it all in an old jar so I can keep using it.
It turned out really well. It has a nutty taste so it was a nice twist on your average balsamic dressing!
What did you do on Valenine’s day? Hope it involved some Valentines Cheese!

Leo is such a little cutie! The charcuterie board looks tasty. I miss cured meats from time to time but I’ve cut down majorly on processed foods in general for health reasons.
