It’s hard finding somewhere to eat in Venice. There are so many options and many look the same. We had walked by Luca e Fred a few times, it was my boyfriend’s eye that the place caught.
It’s a quirky little place that seemed to attract more locals than tourists. A good sign, I guess. My partner had earmarked this place when we had walked past a few times. It looked so much different from all the other places to eat in Venice. Not having someone outside trying to drag you in to eat their pasta or pizza was a bonus.

We had a starter of cold meats then I had a squid salad, my boyfriend went for the set menu that included two settings. He had a clam pasta and some fried seafood after.
I do regret having my salad as the salad itself was awful – dry bits of lettuce with no dressing. The calamari was nice though. My boyfriend made a better choice than me and his clam pasta was delicious. I had pasta the evening before so wanted to try something different. Bad move! Get the pasta!
