Instagram Stories vs Instagram Posts

I was against Instagram stories when they first became a feature on Instagram. It seemed too much like Snapchat and I hate Snapchat!

I finally started using them just over a year ago and I must say, I’m a massive fan.

Being able to share tidbits of your life RIGHT NOW – random thoughts and things you are up to, it’s great. It’s kind of like a visual Twitter feed.

One thing I’ve noticed over the past few months is that my stories seem to generate much more engagement than my Instagram feed. I get many more replies to them. I guess it makes sense because it’s much easier to respond to a story comment than it is a comment on your post and it can quickly escalate into a conversation.

It’s to the point where I prefer stories to my main feed. I love watching them, replying and posting them.

At this point in time, I think if it wasn’t for stories, I wouldn’t even use Instagram.

What are your thoughts?

1. noun: a female blogger that writes about her own experiences, observations and opinions. 2. verb: to act like a complete idiot or to do something stupid. e.g: She did a Corinne.

I personally really like both, stories allows me to be raw and real where as my feed is more curated.

I’ve never viewed an Instagram or facebook story and I probably never will. I like to be able to scroll through my own timeline in my own time, often checking out things that are days or weeks old for cross reference. If I want to chat, I’ll do it with people in the flesh or close friends on WhatsApp. And if I want to watch video I’ll turn to You Tube. To me Stories look as if they are trying to fill a gap in the market that wasn’t actually there.
