Are you always setting yourself goals? Do you always want to learn new things and try and better yourself? You plan it all out, invest time learning and finding as much information as possible to help you achieve your goals.
Then what happens? You start working towards your goal and after a few days, weeks, months, it gets really hard. You can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, the mountain seems too big to climb, you feel like you are going backwards. You skip the hard parts and make excuses until eventually, you quit.
But what if you didn’t quit.
I’m here to share with you my new favourite quote.
Imagine what you could achieve if you didn’t quit
Those of you that follow me on Instagram or have read this blog or my fitness blog for some time will know that I’ve had a PT since December 2017.
Last June we started focusing more on strength training and powerlifting. I started loving bench press started gaining strength at a decent rate. I got to 40kg and set a goal for myself to bench 8 reps at 40kg.
Sometime over the summer, I went a bit backwards. I went from being able to bench 2-3 reps at 40kg to not a single one. I was pretty devasted. My PT changed my program to allow me to focus more on my weaknesses. In December, I started doing a bit better at the old chest press and when we sat down in January to assess my goals for 2019, I had one goal very clear in my head. To bench press 40kg for 8 reps.
I worked hard at this, not skipping any workouts and even doing every single one of my core workouts.
Then on Saturday, on the third month of the year, I hit my goal.
I can’t begin to tell you how happy that makes me. I’ve wanted this so bad and now I’ve got there, I am so proud of myself and I feel unstoppable.
Next time you set yourself a goal, remember you can achieve it if you just stick to the plan, trust the process and don’t give up.
Congrats on hitting your goal!
