Is there anything more romantic than the idea of going away for Valentine’s day?

Thursday will be the 3rd Valentine’s day my boyfriend and I have had together, as my boyfriend is a teacher and can’t take term time off, the dream of going away for a few days of romance remains just a dream.

We’ll be both working this Valentine’s day, just as we were both working the previous 2 Valentines day! Looking through Jet2 flights, I’m gathering a bit of information for a bit of a getaway for myself and my boyfriend. As we plan to buy a new house this year, a fancy two weeks in the sun might not be on the cards for us, but a short city break later in the year might be the break we both need.

I just need someone to look after Annabelle. Any volunteers?

Krakow

The beautiful city of Krakow in Poland has lots of things to do. Castle tours, salt mine, museums and stunning views. I’m not really sure if there’s anything more romantic than a 14th-century Gothic church!

Pisa

The Italian city of Pisa is famed for its leaning tower. But what else is there to explore here? There are other monuments, such as the Cathedrale and baptistry to visit – as well as plenty of places to eat.

After a day of exploring with your other half, spend the evening hand in hand exploring the shops, restaurants and markets in the market square.

Barcelona

There’s loads to see in Barcelona and the nearby neighbourhoods and districts. You can visit the jewels of home-grown Catalan architecture, modernisme, and contemporary architecture, there markets to peruse all over, and much more.

Dubrovnik

I’m wanting to go somewhere a little less ‘typical’. Dubrovnik in Croatia looks stunning from the photos. It’s known for its distinctive Old Town, massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. It reminds me of Croatia’s version of York!

Geneva

I broke down in Switzerland once for 12 hours on a school trip from Italy. Don’t ask! We did not get to see the better side of this beautiful country, but I’ve always wanted to have a real visit. There’s the water fountain, the Cathedrale, my boyfriend has been and has told me about this place that does amazing fondue – now that’s romance! There’s also CERN – the centre for nuclear research where you can see the first computer that was connected to the internet. There’s a sign on the server to the cleaners asking them not to turn the power off! Ha.

I’m actually really keen on Croatia now! There’s a few places that Jet2 fly to in the country such as Split and Pula. There’s also Jet2Holidays to explore which offers full package holidays rather than just flights.

Where would you go?
