Review of my 2018 blog goals

Review of my 2018 blog goals

review of 2018 blog goals

It’s that time of the year again! Time to review our blog goals that we made all the back at the start of 2018.

If you didn’t make any goals for your blog last January, it might be worth thinking about what you want to work on in 2019. Goals are a great way to set an intention and set some objectives to help us achieve success.

Let’s look at my goals from 2018. It was all about balance for me. I didn’t want to set myself up for failure and wanted to make sure I I wasn’t setting myself unrealistic goals that would lead to burning out. So let’s see how we got on.

review of blog goals

WRITE MORE FITNESS CONTENT.

I’ve been hit and miss with this! I have been so busy that it’s been tough to juggle three blogs. So much so that I’ve hardly even look at my tech blog at all and my fitness blog is neglected. I was posting consistently once a week but for the past few weeks, I’ve stopped doing my fitness updates and have only done a few sponsored posts.

I need to get better at updating it next year!

DAILY BLOG.

Nailed this mate! I actually had a nightmare a few weeks ago that I forgot to post but it wasn’t real so that’s alright. Almost 5 years of daily blogging whatttt! This is basically my USP.

KEEP UP WITH SCHEDULING TWEETS.

I wouldn’t have done this without Hiplay, to be honest! Hiplay is a service I pay for that lets me set tweets as evergreen. This means they automatically go into my Buffer queue when my queue is empty.  Perfect! Although I’ve been a bit torn with this method lately because Twitter doesn’t like repetitive tweets, but I’m just working with what I’ve got right now!

USE INSTAGRAM CONSISTENTLY.

Oh, I’ve done well with this! Since around mid-January, I’ve posted every day. I think I’ve missed one day but let’s not talk about that. My love/hate relationship with Instagram has continued through 2018. I did an Instagram Experiment for 4 weeks where I did manage to grow my following and engagement, but then I decided it was too much effort and not really worth wasting my time with Instagram for such little reward.

Now I just post daily and interact when I feel like it. I use Instagram stories a fair bit and I think I’m really funny so follow me.

KEEP A TRACK OF SPONSORED POSTS.

I’ve been doing this using Google Drive and it helped me so much in April when I did my tax return.

That’s right – I did my tax return in April! Then I set up a direct debit to pay it monthly between April and January. Much better than having to pay it all off in one go! DO THIS DO THIS DO THIS I recommend it so much to any blogger/freelancer/taxpayer.

WRITE MORE BLOG TIP CONTENT.

I haven’t written as many blog tip posts as I wanted, but over the past two months, I’ve really changed that!

I did do a few series:

  • The Instagram Experiment.
  • The complete guide to social media.
  • The Pinterest Experiment.
  • The complete guide to a blog SEO audit (still in progress)

2019 is going to be full if blog related content for me! Hope this makes you happy because you all seem to like that kind of content!

So there’s only one goal I didn’t do too well on, that was the one relating to the fitness blog.

How have you been doing with your goals?

Yay! Well done Corinne! I didn’t start the year with any goals and ended up creating some. So, going to start the year with some for 2019 🙂 Helen x

I didn’t set any blogging goals but I’m happy I blogged pretty regularly this year and covered a lot of subjects, including those really important to me. Congrats on doing well with your blog posts. I like how your posts are always so well organized and I often find useful info here.
