I’ve recently written a post where I reviewed my 2018 blog goals. Now that’s done and dusted, it’s time to start thinking about the year ahead.

This year, my goals are not only to be blog related, but career related. Some of you might remember that I wrote a post a few months ago about wanting to change career. It’s been tough and I’ve applied for 100’s of jobs, been ignored a lot, had some hope of an interview and been rejected or ignored, finally had 3 interviews with good feedback but ‘went for someone with experience’. This year I’m going to be upskilling myself on some skills I lack to help me bag a job in digital marketing.

Blog and Career Goals for 2019

Write more blog related content.

This was a goal I had last year and I did slip a little midway through the year but picked it up in the last 3 months.

This year I want to carry on writing content that helps other bloggers, small businesses and marketers. I’ve got lots of ideas and can’t wait to get started!

Become an expert in SEO.

I feel like I know a fair bit about SEO, but now I want to become an expert. I want to get more knowledge around the technical side of SEO and be able to fix the problems and put SEO plans in place to improve my own ranking in search as well as others. I’ve published a post on how to conduct a full SEO audit for your blog for 2019 and now I’m working through the steps to demonstrate how to solve any problems.

In many of the jobs I’ve applied for, they described needing someone with SEO knowledge.

This means I’ll probably be writing lots of SEO related content over the next year!

Learn Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Again, for the job hunt – I’ve got myself an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription with a view to learning how to use the industry standard tools. Again – this is something that has been on a lot of my job descriptions. I’ve bought a couple of courses to help me learn the basics!

I hope to eventually stop using Canva all together and be able to create my own graphics from scratch.

Complete my CIM in Professional Marketing.

This is a biggie! I’m signed up for a CIM course in Professional Marketing. This is because my 10-year-old French and Philosophy degree isn’t really getting me anywhere as a digital marketer. So I’m taking on the challenge of hopefully getting some sort of marketing qualification! The first exam is in April so I best get studying!

Continue daily blogging.

I’ve been daily blogging for over 4 years now. I’m hoping to make it 5 soon! I don’t know why this goal means so much to me, but it just does! It’s something I’m really proud of and something I hope I can keep up for as long as possible.

Grow Twitter to 15000 followers.

My Twitter growth hasn’t been great this year, so I’ve decided to make growing my followers my one and only statistic related goal for 2019. Twitter has been a great source of traffic for me in the past and I’m hoping that I can start using it more in 2019 again! I got to the point where I was hardly tweeting at all, just sending out promotion posts but over the past few months, I’ve been trying to make more effort with Twitter and starting to see a bit more engagement.

Continue using Pinterest to market my blog.

Pinterest has been my favourite thing this year. I started using it seriously at the end of October and I’m a bit annoyed with myself that I didn’t start sooner! I’ve had some great results and I’m sure it’s going to be my favourite marketing tool in 2019!

Create monthly and weekly goals.

I want to start creating monthly goals as well as weekly ones that will help me accomplish all of the above. It might be to learn a certain skill in Photoshop, redo my portfolio in InDesign, have a focus on a set social media… something to keep me motivated and learning new things.

That’s a wrap on my goals for 2019! What are yours?
