If you’re wanting to upgrade your home to something a bit more extravagant without having to move home, there are a few things you can do to upstyle your house. I’ve taken some of the features I’d love in my house – I’d love to be able to upgrade our current house but we don’t plan on staying here long enough to make it worth it. But here are some things I’d love in my future house.
A chandelier – this is probably the hardest thing to get right. You don’t want it to be too big so that it overpowers the room and looks a bit unclassy. I’d love one in the centre of two staircases that go around the side of the room and meet in the middle. That’s probably a bit unrealistic so I’ll settle for one in an entrance hall or dining room. Ha.
Front door – your front door can really change the first impression someone will have of your house. I love the grand door frames as above, as well as big wooden double doors. Think of the entrance to Hogwarts grand hall!
Staircases – again this is another part of your home that will make a first impression. You can get a staircase renovation and change the look of your entrance hall by changing the spindles. I love the look of metal ones or dark wooden ones.
A water feature – my ultimate ideal would be to have a water feature in the centre of the front garden with enough room for cars to drive around it. But again, that’s probably an unrealistic expectation so I may have to stick to a small water feature or a standard garden pond. Fish and frogs included, please!
Kitchen island – Although this may take up a lot of space, a kitchen island is something I’d love. I hate not having enough space to cook. Kitchen surfaces quickly get taken up by microwaves, kettles, coffee machines, blenders and then there’s no space for cooking or baking! Look at all that space in the image above!
