A couple weeks with the Olympus Pen 45mm lens.

I got my Olympus Pen E-PL7 a couple years ago now. Since then, I’ve pretty much stopped using my DSLR as this was just easier to use and much smaller.

I was missing my old lens on my DSLR though. I had a 50m which took lovely photos with that bloggy blurry background.

I had looked at the equivalent one for my Pen 7. It was a massive £150 from Amazon so I’m sure you can see why I was a bit reluctant.

I’ve started to feel a bit unhappy with my blog photography lately, that as well as being reminded to invest back into my blog by Bee at #blogatthebeach, I decided to take the plunge and invest in the new fancy lens.

I’ve had it a few weeks now and wanted to share some of the photos I’ve taken with it.

I’m actually really impressed with the lens. I’ve been using it on aperture priority mode to control the depth of field.

The best thing about this lens is that it can focus automatically. Just tap on the screen of the camera where you want the focus to be (or use the grid) and bam, perfect focus. On my Nikon D3100, I had to manually focus by turning the lens with my hands, which resulted in me having some photos slightly out of focus. Because of the small screen, I’d never realise it was out of focus until I uploaded it to my computer.

Now I’ve spent a bit of money on this lens and started using it, it really has brought more motivation into getting better blog photos

This post is just a little reminder that it sometimes is important to reinvest your blog earnings back into your blog this way!

How do you invest in your blog?

  1. Sounds like an amazing camera! Definitely my dream to own a good camera for blogging. At the moment I take all photos with my phone.

  2. the lens seems great! i’ve been thinking about getting a new one for my dslr for ages, but have a thing about wanting to “master” the one i have before investing in others.. don’t know if that’ll ever happen, though! xx

  3. What a wonder Corinne! The photos are great, I agree with you that it is good to invest in improvements in the teams that help us with the content of the blog, congratulations for your new camera lens.
