On Saturday, I went to my first icelolly.com Blog at the Beach event.
This isn’t the first event like this that icelolly.com has held. I’ve not been able to get to the others as they’re on a Saturday and I usually work. I managed to get this one off work.
I’m glad I finally managed to get to one because it’s not often that there are events in Leeds like this, so it was nice to show my support for them. There were actually people there from a few places – Hull, Manchester, London, and Scottland.
I met Sharon at York station and we headed over to Leeds together. We met Sophie and Katie at the station to start out adventure. We first got Katie checked into her hotel and had a nosey around it.
Sophie had to photobomb me of course. She’s the worst.
It was held at Duke Street Studios, a great event space I have been to before and it was all decked out in a ski lodge theme. Complete with mulled wine and hot toddies.
What followed was a massive overload of information. In a good way. We had a talk from Kirsty about how to pitch to a brand, one from Bee about how to take your blog to the next level without going full time and a talk on photography from Kaye.
The talks were rammed packed full of things I:
- didn’t know, but now do.
- did know, but forgot.
- needed to be reminded of because I’m crap at.
I’m going to do 3 separate blog posts on each talk, highlighting the parts I think are most important so I can remind myself and set some goals from them, and hopefully teach those of you that didn’t get to go something new.
After the event, we went to the Alchemist for cocktails. Though I decided to stick to beer as after a few too many hot toddies, I needed something with a bit more liquid!
Until next next post, I leave you with my collage of fun:
Ah you all look so friggin cute! Sounds like you had a ball! I am still gutted I couldn’t be there! I need to see you!
Sarah 🙂
Oh I’ve never heard of this before (maybe only a UK thing, even though the theme would be perfect here, ha!) but it sounds like a fun event! looking forward to your posts about the talks too, I’m sure to learn a lot 🙂
Hope that you are having a good week so far! The weather has been more bearable this week which is nice, not the crazy high temps we had last week!
looks like you had lots of fun! xx
I’m happy to hear you’ll be blogging about some of the advice you heard at the event, looking forward to reading it! Glad to see you enjoyed the event, Corinne 🙂

Ah it looks like you had an awesome time! I miss going to blog events!
I saw the hashtag for this but I didn’t know what it was about – sounds really fun. I hope they do a Blog at the Beach in Brighton some time.
Thanks for sharing this. I so wanted to go, but couldn’t make it. Looks like you all had a great time 🙂
