My blog goals for 2018 - balanced approach

Hello, the end of January. I’m late to the party, as usual.

I’ve taken a much more relaxed approach to blogging over the last few months. You can probably tell! My time is stretched really thin and now I live with my boyfriend, gone are the days where I can blog until bedtime.

My 2017 goals went down the pan. I didn’t have the time to do the things I needed to achieve my goals. I didn’t put any extra pressure on myself or let myself feel guilty. The fact is, my life is a lot different than it was at the start of 2017.

So I’m going for a balanced approach when it comes to blog goals this year.

Write more fitness content.

Most weeks I just post a fitness update on my fitness blog. I really want to get into writing more on there as it’s something I’m passionate about. Sadly, it’s the first thing to go when I’m busy!

Daily blog.

I’ve blogged every day for almost 4 years now. It’s something I want to keep up with as I feel proud of that achievement.

Doing this comes at a cost that I am aware of. I sometimes have to rush posts or publish content I’m not 100% happy with. But that’s okay.

It’s a blog, not a magazine or newspaper. I am not perfect and my content doesn’t have to be.

Keep up with scheduling Tweets.

I used to be great at this. But now over the past few months, I’ve slacked. I use Buffer to schedule my tweets, which means I can get 100 in my queue. I have no excuse really. But I often go a full day without anything scheduled!

This needs to stop.

Use Instagram consistently.

I have such a love/hate relationship with Instagram. There are times I do really well, posting regularly. Then nothing for days. I feel like a bit of a mess when it comes to Instagram. It’s a bit fitness, food, travel, and lifestyle. But I’m okay with that because I like to share all those things but I don’t want two accounts.

Consistency is what I need to work on and I need to figure out what that means. Is it posting every day? Twice a day? I’m not sure but I’ll try a few things and see what works.

Keep a track of sponsored posts.

I’ve started using a tracker to track my sponsored posts. This has helped me a lot to stay organised and also helps me when I do my next tax return. If I take away the hard work – compiling the info – it’ll be easier to fill it and I can hopefully do it in April again and pay it monthly, rather than have a big lump sum to pay in January!

Write more blog tip content.

These posts are what I’m known for, what I’m passionate about and what I do well. I want to carry on writing more content like this. Even though I feel like I’ve written about most things already, know I have more to offer and more information to share. Watch this space!

What are your goals for 2018?

  1. Great goals. Balance is the key and it’s important that you spend time doing all the things you love, not just on one. Otherwise live gets out of sync and you end up not being very happy. Wishing you a happy and health 2018 x

  2. These are great goals to have! I hope you achieve them this year!

I’m definitely less enthusiastic about instagram this year than I was last year. The messed up timeline and constant ads mean I never see the content I want and I’m a little over it. Not sure if I should stop posting entirely or keep plugging away. Blog goals are easier, I want to keep doing what I’m doing, as I’m having a lot of fun with my blog 🙂

  3. Great goals – sensible and very achieveable, I think. Massive respect to you for continuing daily blogging – it’s something I could not do. Good luck!

  4. These are great goals! Blogging definitely got away from me in 2017, but I’ve also taken a more relaxed approach. Getting your goals down is a good way to see what you have in mind and keep pace. Good luck! XO -Kim

  5. A balanced approach is always a good strategy when it comes to most things and that would include blogging. Good luck with it! I want to incorporate more wellness and lifestyle content in my blog in 2018.
