As I’m going to Australia TOMORROW, I thought it would be a good idea to look at some of the things there are to do and see around the area. I’m not sure how much we will be able to see and do because the trip is centred around the reason we are going – my niece’s wedding, but it’s a good idea to get to know the place you are travelling to a bit before you go. I’m going to plan a road trip of where I would go and what I would see. All you need to do is get yourself to the airport, leave your car in the Purple Parking and check yourself in.
Melbourne.
I would start the road trip in Melbourne, where I would visit the following places:
Shrine of Remembrance.
Melbourne’s most iconic landmark, people have been coming here since 1934 to honour those that served and sacrificed in the war.
Old Melbourne Gaol
This is Melbourne’s oldest prison, history magistrates’ court and former police city watch-house. Some of the most notorious Australian criminals have spent time behind these bars.
Melbourne Museum.
I love visiting Museums so this is something I really want to do! The Melbourne Museum showcases the history of Australia and its culture, science and the environment.
Cooks Cottage.
Coming from Yorkshire, I have to visit this. Cooks cottage is the oldest building in Australia, that was originally located in Yorkshire in 1755. Each brick was individually numbered, packed into barrels and shipped to Australia in 1934. It’s a great step back in time with stunning gardens.
Geelong
Next we’re travelling to Geelong to see the following.
Buckley Falls
Stunning waterfalls with stunning views, you might want to take a picnic and spend an hour or so here.
The Carousel
A stunning carousel that’s 120 years old! I love stuff like this.
Eastern Beach Reserve
This is a lovely spot to sit and look at the water. There’s a pool for the kids to swim in and plenty of resturants along the way.
Great Otway National Park
This park has lots of coastland, beaches and mountains to explore, as well as the 3 cascades of Triplet Falls. Here’s some things to do here.
Cape Otway Lightstation
Did you ever watch Round the Twist as a kid? It was an Australian kids show about a family that lived in a lighthouse. Ha. I’ve always wanted to live in one ever since I saw it!
Anyway, there is an entry fee but the views from the top of this place are astonishing!
Wreck Beach
There are lots of steps to walk up and down to get to this place, but it’s a stunning beach perfect to take photos.
What do you think of this places? Where would you like to do a road trip?
Sounds so fun! I hope you had a great time.
