Summer denim must-haves

Summer denim must-haves

summer denim

Some people, like me, are a little wary when it comes to summer denim – worried that it means wearing skimpy denim hot pants or cheap washed out white jeans (I think I lost the ability to dress like that in my 30’s!). But there’s no need to worry – summer denim can be sophisticated, stylish and far from tacky. Trilogy offer advice on three summer denim must-haves.

Keep it authentic with vintage denim

Vintage has had a fashion presence for several years now, and summer of 2017 is set to be no exception. In fact, it’s set to be this season’s biggest trend. Vintage denim and authentic, lived-in washes are the next big thing. Many brands have brought out ‘vintage’ collections to cater to demand, blending original fabrics with added comfort stretch for a modern feel and a softer, lighter handle for summer. This trend for heritage-feel jeans isn’t going anywhere, so invest now if you haven’t already.

These denim must-haves look great with a stylish embellished piece and then paired with some statement footwear. If you’re going for a bit of glamour though, opt for a pair of barely-there heeled sandals.

A new silhouette with straight leg denim

Creating the perfect silhouette is at the forefront of most women. And the summer is the perfect time to experiment with a new silhouette. As we welcome a new season, we also welcome new shapes, higher rises and looser legs across the board. Fashion is now championing a straight silhouette and a more relaxed fit – and this is fantastic news as we move into summer, where skinny legging-like fits can often feel clingy, restrictive and uncomfortable.

Say goodbye to skinny jeans this summer and hello to a more comfortable alternative. The straight cut jean is cut straight from the knees down, so provide a similar look to ankle-hugging skinny jeans on top, but are more forgiving — especially if you have curvy hips, fuller thighs, or thick calves. We suggest taking your usual size, as you want to keep the silhouette slim (but not tight) through the hips and thighs and avoid the baggy, loose look you’d get from a boyfriend jean. We’ll be styling ours with embroidered blouses or classic shirts for a luxe yet laid-back feel.

Keep it sophisticated with white denim

Don’t be put off white denim by ill-fitting, see-through and tacky white jeans. White denim jeans are still a summer fashion staple, but 2017 is introducing a sophisticated and stylish way to wear them. This summer will see more alternatives offered than ever before in this category, from skinny to cropped flares.

White denim can be the perfect denim must-have for all occasions during the summer. A stretchier fabric makes them a great everyday jean or alternatively, for weekends, why not style with a chambray or colourful striped shirt tucked in for an effortless vibe? Dress up with boho, beaded blouses or off-the-shoulder tops for a chic, statement outfit.

How do you do summer denim?

I love white jeans in the summer. I’m definitely not going to be wearing denim hot pants any time soon lol x

I love to wear my Levi’s vintage jeans and white jeans in the summer and my favorites are the loose fit styles.
