Back in May I made a very adult purchase – WE BOUGHT A BED. After years of living in rented accommodation and not having much choice in the bedroom department (lololol), we needed a new bed for the new house.

The bed in my flat is awful. It’s a flimsy wooden thing with a lumpy mattress.

We decided to do things properly and invest in a decent bed and mattress.

First, we picked out a frame that had lots of storage space. It was extra to buy the drawers, but we wanted the storage space. We could have put things under the bed without the drawers, but it wouldn’t have looked as tidy.

It took us a long time to find this frame. We went to a few shops and saw different beds that had drawers. Most of them had small drawers that didn’t make the most of the space – but these use all of the space under the bed, so we both instantly knew it’s what we wanted.

Next was to pick a mattress. The sales man told us all about springs and other thing and then took us to this magical bed that you go on and gets softer and firmer to show you the different types of mattress you can get, as well as shows your weight distribution across it.

We found a mattress we liked, but then later saw one a bit more expensive but a lot more comfy so we decided to invest the extra cash into it.

An hour or so later, we had ordered the bed for delivery mid-July and walked out of the shop happy with our new bed!

  1. You are right, it’s better to have a bed with drawers for extra storage. My next bed will be like that. 🙂

  2. It is LOVELY! I am all for big storage space under beds- otherwise it is wasted space! We got a really nice mattress from Feather and Black a few years ago but stupidly got it too hard- we should have gone with their advice!
