#socialbloggers 146 // Great blogging debates
This is a recycled chat from about 6 months ago, but seeing as there’s been a lot of talk lately about bloggers buying followers, I though it would be a good chat to have again.
Where is your moral compass at?
Q1: Would you work with a brand for no compensation?
@skinnedcartree Yes I would if the product interests me and if its something I would buy myself #socialbloggers
— Chloe (@_chloehx_) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree only if the product is genuinely worth the money or exposure is great.#socialbloggers
— Shehzadi (@heybeautybae) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A1. Yes. If I´m passionate about the brand/cause! 👌🏻 For simple product reviews the product itself is a good start though 😉 #socialbloggers
— Lisa 🌸 (@Following_Lisa) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A1: My honest answer – it would depend on the brand – if it was one I used anyway, probably would #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree If there was more opportunities in the future, it would be more about being passionate about the product and not the price #socialbloggers

Q2: Do you unfollow your non-followers on social media?
@skinnedcartree Yes, even if they’re real life friends. In fact, especially then. 😂
— 🐶 Jennifer Johnson (@jenrazzle) 16 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I don’t really follow back unless I think I like the content. It’s rude to unfollow anyway. #socialbloggers
— Shehzadi (@heybeautybae) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree Not everyone. I unfollow people that unfollow me. Others it depends if I like the persons tweets etc I don’t unfollow #socialbloggers
— Chloe (@_chloehx_) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I would never unfollow someone, I only follow people who inspire me and blogs and youtube channels I love x #socialbloggers
— Kels (@MissKelseyDay) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree No, never. I always keep following the people I like and talk to. #socialbloggers
— Kate Hawkins (@katehawkins99) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A2: I do regular Twitter culls but don’t target non-followers. I just remove Twitter users I’m not interested in anymore! #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 15 April 2017
Q3: Does having a schedule take the fun out of blogging?
@skinnedcartree A3 – I think it adds pressure. For someone doing her blog for fun I don’t need the pressure. I was stressed during Blogmas! #socialbloggers
— Burgh Blogger (@BurghBlogger) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree For me it keeps me on track, I might have a schedule but everything else is free for all about what I write or record #socialbloggers
— Kels (@MissKelseyDay) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A3. Not at all for me. I need schedules & deadlines or I´ll just end up procrastinating all the time 🙊 #socialbloggers
— Lisa 🌸 (@Following_Lisa) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree Idk, I feel I need to schedule more to be more productive on my blog – but at the same time don’t wanna add pressure #socialbloggers
— Emily 🎀 (@loveemilyjayne) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree Yes and no. Sometimes you need a schedule in order to get things done and to remain organised #socialbloggers
— Chloe (@_chloehx_) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A3: No – I don’t think so. As long as it’s reviewed to make sure it still ‘works’ and isn’t tired! #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 15 April 2017
Q4: Would you accept cash for do-follow links?
@skinnedcartree Now I’m not sure what they are? Basically someone paying you for a follow? #socialbloggers
— Emily 🎀 (@loveemilyjayne) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree if it comes to hyperlinks frm the sponsors I allow But if things feel like getting spamy, I let go. #socialbloggers
— Shehzadi (@heybeautybae) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A4: Honestly, depends how much cash – but it would take a v. large sum – probably more than they would ever pay! #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A4. Nope. Paid for Do-Follow links can be punished by Google so I´m not risking being banned from their search engine! #socialbloggers
— Lisa 🌸 (@Following_Lisa) 15 April 2017
Q5: Would you consider buying followers?
@skinnedcartree NO WAY! The best part about blogging is the thrill you get when you gain an authentic follower, who loves what you do 🙊🙊 #socialbloggers
— martha mol (@martha_molly) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree In a word No never. I want people to follow cos they enjoy what I say or like my photos. I’m still learning! #socialbloggers
— Milly Molly Does…. (@millymollyone) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A5. No, never! Engagement is much more important than a few thousand followers more! #socialbloggers
— Lisa 🌸 (@Following_Lisa) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A5: Nope! Would rather grow organically! #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 15 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I’d never buy followers! They wouldn’t seem real. I want to “earn” my followers. #socialbloggers
— Burgh Blogger (@BurghBlogger) 15 April 2017
G'wan, delve a little further..

So much has changed in the blogging community over the last 12 months – but then again, it’s hasn’t too. People have always done things that generally come under the ‘unapproved’ blogging umbrella, the follow/no follow game, buying followers, all that jazz, I guess the difference is now there is A LOT more transprancy. You wonder, if people know they will be noted, named and shamed for doing these things, will they stop? Probably, for a little while at least, or until they find another way of doing it anonymously. Blogging is bloody intense these days, what happened to the good ol’ days when it was just for FUN?
