Domain authority seems to be the one of the main metrics used to assess a blog, especially form an SEO point of view. I often see in groups for blogger opportunities brands looking for bloggers with a certain DA. The most asked seems to be 30 or above.
It’s weird how things change, it used to be all about Google PR, but since Google stopped updating it, I guess people have had to start using a different way of assessing the strength of a website.
If you want to know how to improve your DA, then read this post: How I got my DA to 45.

Q1: Do you care about your DA?
@skinnedcartree I used to, but now I blog for me! I study full time and work 2 jobs.. I got bored of unnecessary stress ? #socialbloggers
— martha mol (@martha_molly) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree Yes! I need to find some sort of idiots guide to SEO on tinternet #socialbloggers
— Sally O’Shea (@sweetiesal) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree Kinda, I just like to know I’m improving but as I don’t get many brands interested in my blog it’s not a priority #socialbloggers
— Bex (@bubblybex3) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A1. Just started to care more about it now, was oblivious to it all until recently #social blogger’s
— Denise M (@thelifeofdeem) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I don’t actually have any clue what it is & how it works etc. so #socialbloggers
— Jessika (@LittleLookbook) 8 April 2017
Q2: What DA do you wish your blog had?
@skinnedcartree I think 20+ would be a good place to start, although I’m not hugely knowledgeable about what is good and bad #socialbloggers
— martha mol (@martha_molly) 8 April 2017
@snowflakespoons @skinnedcartree Yeah I honestly have no idea so I don’t feel qualified to answer this question
— Molly Daydreams (@mollydaydreams) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I’d love to be in the 30/40’s I got to 25 at one point but then my blog died a sudden DA death & dropped to the teens #socialbloggers
— Bex (@bubblybex3) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I think you start being taken seriously above 20 so I’d like to reach that. My blog is so new Moz hasn’t ranked it yet #socialbloggers
— Dan jones (@yogigoals) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A2. I’d like to get back up to 25 & then work on it from there. It plummeted after doing Blogmas #socialbloggers
— Denise M (@thelifeofdeem) 8 April 2017
Q3: How can your improve DA?
@skinnedcartree Regular posting with genuine links? Also being linked on other sites is good #socialbloggers
— Bex (@bubblybex3) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A3. Blogging regularly, good links & internal linking which I am really rubbish at as it’s something I forget to do #socialbloggers
— Denise M (@thelifeofdeem) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree I believe DA is primarily governed by backlinks, get some good quality backlinks and your DA will skyrocket.
— Dan jones (@yogigoals) 8 April 2017
Q4: Do you think brands should care about DA?
@skinnedcartree I can understand why it’s something they like as they’d want a post ft their product to be prominent on search #socialbloggers
— Bex (@bubblybex3) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree However many factors should be considered by brands as smaller bloggers will struggle to be seen #socialbloggers
— Bex (@bubblybex3) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree The SEO experts say DA is a poor metric to judge a site on. But just about everyone else uses it so I imagine brands do #socialbloggers
— Dan jones (@yogigoals) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A4 I can see why they would care as high DA = better ranking for their brand/product to be seen on someone’s blog #socialbloggers
— Denise M (@thelifeofdeem) 8 April 2017
Q5: What other measures do you use to track blog progress?
@skinnedcartree Each month I track page views on GA. mostly to see if I actually get any #socialbloggers
— Bex (@bubblybex3) 8 April 2017
@skinnedcartree A5 not google analytics anyway as that goes way over my head #socialbloggers pic.twitter.com/cyYJTV2zh3
— Denise M (@thelifeofdeem) 8 April 2017
No, seriously I no longer care about stats and have stopped checking my GA too. I personally think the whole blogging culture is dying, too many bloggers and people have very short attention spans. It seems like Instagram influencers are the new trend, one picture, short and to the point captions and link where to purchase. Oh well..
I haven’t paid attention to my DA, but maybe I should start 🙂
I always seem to check around update time, but other than that I try not to pay too much attention to it! It always leaves me feeling a bit down as it never seems to change much, even when I’m making a conscious effort to improve it!
Sarah 🙂
