It’s easy to get carried away with blogging and spend lots of money. Cameras, software, themes, premium versions of things.. it’s interesting to see what people spend their money on.

I currently subscribe to premium PicMonkey. I do have photoshop, but find I can get similar results with PicMonkey much easier. I also subscribed to Crowdfire but I think I’ll end that as I don’t use it.

I also self-host, but only pay £2.99 a month to host all 3 websites and my domain names are about £8 each a year.

One of costs can be the ones that hit us hard – laptop, themes, custom designs, cameras, lighting equipment, or even photo props.

So this chat is about what people do and don’t spend their money on. It surprised me how many people don’t spend any money at all! Just goes to show you that anyone can blog, regardless of if you have the ‘right tools’.

  1. Reading this made me realize that I’m in an amazing position. My husband is a webdeveloper, so I don’t have to pay for design and I don’t have to worry about hosting, domains and stuff like that. For work I need a good camera and Photoshop, so that is covered too. The only things I buy for blogging are props for my food blog. I use them also in real life though.
