I always think subscription boxes are both exciting but disappointing. I love that moment when you get one and you’re about to see what’s inside, but then when you delve in to find another lipgloss and more hand cream, you can’t help feeling a bit ripped off.
I’ve written two posts before about what I would and wouldn’t include in a subscription box, I’d love to know what box you would create!
Q1: Do you currently subscribe to any boxes, would you?
@skinnedcartree A1. Not at the moment but I want to do Sephora’s next. I use to subscribe to Birchbox/Ipsy/Glossybox #socialbloggers
— Sam (@SamsRamblings) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree I used to subscribe to Birchbox but now only sub to Glossybox as they’re items I’d actually buy, rather than super high end.

A1: Not currently since I’ve just gotten settled in my new place proper. But definitely eyeing a couple. #socialbloggers @skinnedcartree

@skinnedcartree No I don’t, I simply can’t afford to spend out on that but I really would love to! #socialbloggers

@skinnedcartree I used to subscribe to Glossybox when beauty boxes were the rage but not now. Wasn’t using the products #socialbloggers

@skinnedcartree I’m not but I’d love to subscribe

@skinnedcartree I haven’t done yet but would love to do it in the future. #socialbloggers

@skinnedcartree yes i subscribe too @BirchboxUK #socialbloggers
— Courtney (@courtsworld_x) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree I don’t subscribe to any boxes – purely a cost thing at the minute and would love to sub in the future #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 24 September 2016
Q2: Do you blog about subscription boxes?
@skinnedcartree Yes I try to do a monthly review!
— Courtney (@courtsworld_x) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree I do about the @bbloggerbox #socialbloggers
— Inside Laura’s Head (@InsdeLaurasHead) 24 September 2016
A2: In the past, I did whenever they arrived and I got to test them proper. Definitely want to do it again.#socialbloggers @skinnedcartree
— mchi@waitingforjune. (@mchiblgs) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree No but I always saw it as a vlogger thing to do and my blog is not about beauty 😯 #socialbloggers
— Becky Merchant (@Bex91) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree A2: No – I don’t. Not sure I would as a lot of boxes are overposted about already #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 24 September 2016
Q3: What keeps you subscribed to a box?
A3: Quality, price, quantity in relation to price, and the brand’s/company’s persona and overall service. #socialbloggers @skinnedcartree
— mchi@waitingforjune. (@mchiblgs) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree A3. Stuff I like and will use. Why am I paying for something I won’t use and don’t like? #socialbloggers
— Sam (@SamsRamblings) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree If I subscribe to a box it would maintain my loyalty by giving me stuff I can use. #socialbloggers
— Gayle Smith (@2202Gayle) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree And maybe 60% what you would expect and 40% surprises 🙂 #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 24 September 2016
Q4: What would make you subscribe to a box? #socialbloggers
A4: A good representation and honesty by the brand / company would make me more inclined to look at a box. #socialbloggers @skinnedcartree
— mchi@waitingforjune. (@mchiblgs) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree A4: a good price with things I use often like daily beauty items #socialbloggers
— Shazeda Bee (@beeingShazeda) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree A4. Interest. I’ve been toying with subscribing to a book box as well as Sephora’s box. #socialbloggers
— Sam (@SamsRamblings) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree Good quality products at affordable price. #socialbloggers
— Gayle Smith (@2202Gayle) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree A4: Either a really completitive price or products that I absolutely loved! Ideally, both! #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 24 September 2016
Q5: If you could create your own, what would it be?
A5: A stationery box that includes lettering and paper craft tutorials in addition to cute stationery. #socialbloggers @skinnedcartree
— mchi@waitingforjune. (@mchiblgs) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree A lifestyle box with a mixture of beauty, skincare, accessories, home decor and paper goods. #socialbloggers
— Janine (@janineallison) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree Something to do with classic book – don’t know what? #socialbloggers
— Elizabeth Cole (@lizziercole1) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree it would be part beauty and part skin care with possibly a perfume added in. #socialbloggers
— Gayle Smith (@2202Gayle) 24 September 2016
@skinnedcartree a Bath bomb box, because everyone loves a bath adventure every once In a while😌💗
— Olivia lily (@Redwhitesopink) 24 September 2016
I want to subscribe these days. I had a box a few months ago and I love it, so I might get a subscription and enjoy it monthly.
I think I’ve tried two subscription boxes ever: DailyLook Elite and Ipsy (makeup). I do like the surprise of seeing what you get but I eventually stopped both because 1) I usually didn’t want to keep all of the stuff and 2) it made me feel pressured to buy things I may not otherwise need.

I do love beauty subscriptions but have cancelled all but ipsy because I’m overwhelmed by how many stuff I have. I am trying to be smart and only keep and use products that I love instead of blindingly keeping and buying everything.
I am not subscribed to any boxes and I don’t think I will subscribe in the near future! I prefer to keep that money and spend it on the things I actually need rather than having things I don’t need or I won’t ever use. x
