The best thing about living alone

best thing about living alone

I’m been over two weeks now since I moved into my new flat.

It’s a scary thing to take that step on your own. I’m a very independent person, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t worried. After living with friends for 10 years, there’s a sense of security there. Like when a light bulb goes or there’s a spider. Or the time or roof caved in or the time the door lock broke leaving me trapped inside the house and Christine trapped outside. I had to squeeze her through my bedroom window because she really needed a pee.

(woah, they are OLD posts).

When these things happen and there’s someone there, you can see the funny side.

But if I was on my own, I’d probably cry.

But apart from a bit of fear around that, I’ve not regretted living alone at all.

Here are some of the best things about it:

  • I can walk around naked. I spend half my life now in my underwear as it’s been so hot. Fabulous.
  • I can wee with the toilet door open.
  • If I’m watching TV and get tired, I can nap on the sofa without fear of being caught.
  • I can also pass out on my sofa when I’m drunk. Yes, this happened.
  • I can sleep during the day without being woken up. Not that I usually sleep during the day, but I’ve been on nights so that’s been pretty fantastic.
  • I can use the bathroom when I want. I have a bad habit of procrastinating. So I’ll be thinking about going in the shower or going to the toilet for ages, until the point where I’m almost weeing myself. But then sods law comes into play and a housemate goes to the bathroom the second before I was about to get up.
  • This also applies to using the washing machine and kitchen.
  • I can leave my towels in the bathroom rather than hanging them on my wardrobe door.
  • I can leave my stuff anywhere. Although I’ve been really good at keeping the place clean!
  • I can vlog! I used to get really scared of vlogging in my old house in case someone heard me. Now I’m like vlogvlogvlogvlogvlog.
  • I can have a bloggers cheese nightttt which I’m having this Friday.

Do you live alone? What do you think the best parts of it are?

I’ve actually never lived alone so I can’t totally relate. But living with my other half is the nearest I’ve come to living alone. I pee with the door open, nap on the sofa, walk around in my underwear if it’s hot (as long as the blinds are down. Our house is quite overlooked! Lol) I’m glad things are going so well in your new flat and that you are enjoying it 🙂 X

Wow all these facts sound amazing. I have always wanted to live alone all my life but I doubt I ever get the chance haha :’)

It’s a big change for you and it’s fab that you love it. Having a nap while the TV is still on is definitely one of the perks of living alone.

Yes, yes, yes to all of these things! Walking around the house in your underwear during summer is the best thing ever! Enjoy this new freedom and keep on vlogging!

Living alone is way better than having a house mate, at least the you can have everything your way without having someone questioning. Also decorating your place according to way you want rather then a group decision 🙂 Bloggers cheese night sounds fun! x

Hahaha! Glad that you’re enjoying living alone, Corinne! It was the best thing that I did for myself too when I bought my own place back in 2007, there’s no rules except my own rules. LOL!

I can so identify with all of these! Another one – you don’t have to force yourself to make conversation when you get home and really cannot be bothered. Used to happen to me all the time!

So jealous! I live with my parents at the moment and it’s driving me SLOWLY MAD haha! I loved being able to wander round in my pants when I lived on my own.

I’ve never actually lived alone, as I’ve been with my partner, parents or kids. There was a time when I couldn’t be alone in the house without freaking out about people breaking in and murdering me (I’m a touch paranoid) but now I live for those few blissful hours I get to myself when I can do what I like (which usually involves acting out musicals in the living room).

After my family and I have lived four very long years with family, I can totally relate to all of these! Nothing like being in control of your own house and your own stuff! & I hear ya on the bathroom! Lol…

While I don’t live alone, pretty much all these things happen anyway living with my boyfriend. Except vlogging–or my equivalent, video Snapchatting (the boyfriend thinks it’s funny to start obnoxiously yelling in the background). It’s great that your new loft is working out well, and congrats on living on your own! How exciting!
