This story is laced with sadness. As most stories surrounding my attempts to try beauty blogging seem to be.
Last year, LASplash brought out a line of lipsticks inspired by Harry Potter and Harry Potter fans went mad for them. With names like Nagini, Sirius, Hermione, Ravens Claw and Bellatrix, bloggers from all over the world were ordering them and posting their goodies.
And me too. ME TOO. My housemate and I both placed an order and I picked Lovegood after my favourite character, and Ginny because even though I HATE GINNY (ick that time she kissed Harry in the kitchen and it was the most awkward on screen kiss ever), I thought the colour was nice.
LASplash were asked to drop the Harry Potter names by Warner Brother due to copyright. So when my package came, my Lovegood lippy had been renamed as Lovestruck. Which bothered me more than I should have. Because Luna <3
I did what any other sane blogger would do and fumed about it on Twitter, then put the lippies in my drawer to gather dust for a few months. Until today.
Today is the day I finallllllyyyyy blog about them. So here we go.
As you can see from the photos, Lovestruck is actually a lot darker than it looks in the tube, and Ginny (renamed Gigi now) is a bit lighter than it looks – it also looked a lot pinker on the website and appears more peachy nude in real life. I love both colours, and Lovestruck is probably about as dark as I can get away with until I start to feel uncomfortable.
They have a creamy texture and dry matte. The wear time is pretty awesome, too, with a good few hours of wear with eating and drinking. You do need to make sure your lips are moisturised beforehand or they can dry your lips out, which you can see evidence of in the first photo of me below wearing Ginny.
Ignore my bed skin and face and self. I’m almost 30, you know.
Have you tried these before? What do you think of them?
Ahhh I would be just as gutted as you if they renamed them after I’d already ordered them! I would only be buying them for that reason haha. They’re both really nice colours though and I love a matte lip so at least they’re good products!
Amy xx
Loving all the shades looks great on you.
OOOH. I remember when they did this… TWITTER WENT COMPLETELY BESERK hahaha. I love the colour Ginny though, it looks completely beautiful on you! Luna also happens to be my favorite character but I don’t think I could even get away with a colour as dark as that! Fab post!

The renaming bit was indeed sad for fans but both the shades look gorgeous on you and I would love to rock these! <3

Why didn’t I know about these?! I want them! The ‘Lovestruck’ one is my favourite shade, shame they couldn’t keep the HP names though 🙁 x

OMG, I am obsessed with LASplash liquid lipsticks! They stay on forever and ever and just amazing! And don’t you be silly, you look absolutely lovely!
I think the shades look really wearable on you, even if they arrived they didn’t match your initial excitement when you ordered them! Hopefully you will still get some wear out of them 🙂
Thanks for your comment on my post too – I’ll have something up on the blog eventually (relying on scheduled posts at the moment!) but until then I share the odd baby pic on instagram 🙂
I’ve been loving liquid lipsticks recently! I’ve never tried anything from LA Splash before, such a shame they had to change the names, I would of got them for that alone lol.
The colours look good on you though. And still cannot believe your nearly thirty, you look so young still! X
I like these! I think I prefer the look of lovestruck! It’s a real shame they had to drop the HP names 🙁 x
Where can I get these from?
why is this the first time i’m hearing about these?! if they still had their hp names, i’d be ordering them right now, haha. and i love the shade of lovegood/lovestruck, very pretty! they both look lovely on you:-) xx
