You know what I used to do when I wasn’t feeling happy?

I used to drink a bottle of wine, listen to the saddest music I could get my hands on (hi Bright Eyes and Keaton Henson) and less the sadness wash over me like waves.

For some reason, I can’t do that anymore. Or, I don’t want to do that anymore.

I get stuck between avoidance and trying to bring myself into a happier state of mind.

I keep busy, I fake it until I make it and I try not to overthink myself into turmoil.

I understand I can’t control the actions or feelings of others, I understand there are some things I just have to face and I understand that sometimes, if you just act jolly and happy around others, it eventually lifts your moods and spirits.

We all face sadness at some point in our lives. We all deal with it differently. It’s part of being human.

  2. Yup I pretty much do like most of the commentators. Food, good friends, a book, a bath…anything to make me feel safe and loved. And I really like the quote about not comparing ourselves. That can be the hardest

  3. Though I do try and stay positive most times it is good to cry and let it all out, so when I feel sad or whatever I do it and get it over with and I feel a lot better πŸ™‚
