When I first started blogging, I had just lost quite a bit of weight. I started putting it back on after I stopped smoking. Almost 2 stone.

Now I’m back on the fitness wagon, I’ve started losing some weight again and I’m actually now able to fit into most of my clothes I could fit into back then. This is great news, because most of my clothes have been too small for me and it’s always exciting when I can fit into something that I haven’t been able to for over a year.

This brings me to a new series I’m going to do from time to time.

This dress first appeared on the blog in this post in April 2013. That’s two years ago!

I’ve never actually worn this dress out of the house, mainly because of the weight gain. But it’s my mission this summer to wear it as it’s one of the few dresses that actually has a decent length to it.

It would make a great Alice in Wonderland dress, too. So if there’s ever a fancy dress day at work, I’d just need a white pinny and I’d be good to go.

Seeing these photos makes me miss my old kitchen. That house was a lot better for taking photos than my current one. Boo.

Do you still own things you’ve not worn in years?

  1. Loveee the dress. Super cute! and I have a ton of things I haven’t worn in years, but I cleaned up my closet recently so it’s down to just a few items now!

  2. You’ve done so well with losing weight. You look gorgeous (you did anyways) and have such a confident look.

  3. This dress is so pretty! It would definitely make a great Alice dress. I still own loads of clothes that don’t fit in the hope I’ll be able to wear them again soon but I also keep hanging on to stuff I don’t like anymore or get a chance to wear just in case I change my mind or ever need it for fancy dress or special occasions. I’m a terrible hoarder when it comes to clothing!

  4. II love it the deep blue is beautifull, oh and what about that beautifull collar!! It’s everything I love! Have a great week end

  5. LOVE this dress, and those boots too. You are doing so great with your health and fitness, I need to get a leave or two from your book. Loving the tights from the 2013 photos 🙂

  6. Congratualtions on your weight loss! You look amazing! I love this dress on you, your style is very unique. the color fits you great as well. I know the feeling I have lost over 35 pounds in the past year, and love being able to wear things I could once fit!

  7. You look amazing and that dress is super cute too! I did notice your weight loss and you did it really well! xx

  8. Love the new series idea. I used to have loads of clothes I hadn’t worn in years but when I moved I finally got rid of them ALL. Purge doesn’t even begin to cover, I just black-bagged the lot and haven’t thought twice! I’ve only got a tiny wardrobe now so I need to be super selective AND ruthless!

    It’s kinda empowering!

  9. The dress is adorable and I love the scalloped collar detail. I’ve actually been trying to shop my own closet this season and have found many pieces that I’ve not worn in too long.

  10. You look lovely in the dress! My first thought was Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz but you’re right, it’s the perfect Alice in Wonderland dress! I put on weight when I stopped smoking, too, but I’m back on the healthy bandwagon as I started jogging, again. But yeah, I have loads of clothes I haven’t worn in a while and it’ll be exciting to try them on and see if they fit again 🙂

  11. What a cute dress! My general rule is if I haven’t worn it for 6 months then it goes (with the exception of summer stuff, our summers are too short!) so I don’t really keep things I don’t wear. I think the oldest thing I’ve got in my wardrobe is about 6 years old! x

  12. You look amazing! Both then and now! I’m trying to get better on fitness, too – I’m skinny as a stick but I’m definitely not healthy. I have a few pieces that I haven’t worn in ages, though it’s mostly due to my style changing – I think if I didn’t wear something for a year, it’s time to sell or donate it to make room for new things!

  13. it really is so exciting to be able to fit into something that you haven’t been able to for a long time 🙂 it would make such a cute day dress or alice in wonderland dress

  14. I adore your dress <3 I've lost some weight recently, so I'm starting to notice some of my favourite dresses are getting baggier!

  16. It must feel like you have inherited a whole new wardrobe again. This dress is beautiful such a great colour on you Lucy x

  17. I’m noticing a pattern here.. you like wearing something on your waist 🙂

I seriously wish losing weight was so easy… But I’m working on it now.. doing small workouts here and there… and hope that it works out lol

  18. that is a very cute dress, it’s good you are able to wear it again! 🙂 And I love in that second picture, looks like the little cat decal on the wall is stretching on your leg, haha! 🙂

It’s always nice looking back and seeing other ways you wore things. 🙂 Congrats on quitting smoking too, that can’t have been easy!

  19. ah, i love this dress, it’s beautiful! and looks great on you:-) good job on fitting into old clothes again, hehe! and i remember that post when you made lamb, ha, doesn’t feel like 2 years ago! xx

  20. I really like your Then and Now idea. I definitely think that the belt helps the dress out now. Congrats on working hard for that weight loss!!

  21. I actually have some pieces that I wear like once a year, but nothing that I haven’t worn in years as far as I know./Ida
