Hello and here is a lovely Me Me Me Beat The Blues review. You know what? Make-up sometimes confuses the fuck out of me. Like, we put powder on to make everything all matte and then put on highlighter to make it all shiny and dewy again. I just don’t get it.
It’s like when people shave off their eyebrows and then draw them back on in pencil.
The world is mental.
But I’m just gonna go with it.
I got this illuminator by Me Me Me Cosmetics yonks ago in a Glossybox. I had used it a few times but it was one of those products that I always intended to review but just never did. When I got another illuminator in the January Glossybox, I told myself I couldn’t use it until I had reviewed this one!
Oh, if you’re wondering what the difference between a highlighter and an illuminator is then don’t ask me. I’ve searched and there wasn’t a simple answer.
From what I can tell, an illuminator is something you use under makeup to reflect light to make your face bright, glowy and fresh. It can also be mixed with foundation.
Highlighter is something you use as a final step in makeup and is usually a shade lighter than you skin tone and pushes your favourite features forward. You don’t want shimmer in a highlighter and you want it to blend well.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m wank at makeup.
Anyway. The product. Beat the Blues in Pearl Pink by Me Me Me Cosmetics.
Ingredients:
aqua (water), cyclome- thicone, dimethicone, butylene glycol, polysorbate 60, ethylhexyl palmitate, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, theobroma cacao (cocoa) extract, tocopheryl acetate, benzophenone-3, polyacryalmide, c13-14 isoparafin, laureth-7, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, disodium edta [+/- ci 77491, ci 77891, alumina, mica] or aqua, paraffinum liquidum, octyldodecanol, glycerin, peg-8, glyceryl stearate, stearic acid, triethanolamine, isopropyl myristate, propylparaben, methyl- paraben, imidazolidinyl urea, car-bomer, cetyl alcohol [+/- mica, silica, ci 77891, ci 77491, ci 16035, ci 19140]

This does remind me a lot of Benefit’s High Beam, though it’s a bit pinker.
I usually dot this over my cheek nose and a bit on my nose for a very subtle glow. I don’t use it often, mainly when I want to feel extra fancy or I’m going out.
I find it does a good job in brightening my complexion and it’s something I look forward applying.
The consistency is just a bit thicker than foundation and it doesn’t go cakey. It blends well and I like the subtle shimmer it gives me. Anything more would be a little too much for my linking!

Do you use any products like this?
This looks really pretty! I’m as clueless as you when it comes to the rules of make-up haha I literally whack on some tinted moisturiser and call it a day. This looks pretty easy to use though. xx

Looks like a great product it does brightened the complexion.
You look beautiful! Illuminator and Highlighter is basically the same thing — they both bring out your features and make them more prominent and glowing 🙂 But I totally agree with you about the eyebrow thing. People shave them off and then draw them back on again lol.
Such a pretty shade!

Makeup is confusing, you are so right! And I am totally with you on the whole eyebrows thing!
This looks lovely on you though, you look radiant and glowing!

I really love high beam and use it regularly above eye shadow but this sounds like a great cheaper alternative. I love it because it brightens my eyes Lucy x
Do I use any products like this? Eh, do bears sh*t in the woods? I’m forever covered in shimmer.
Recently, I’ve been liking Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light. It’s nice, but not worth the $$$. For focused highlighting, I like my MAC Lightscapade. Seriously sparkly stuff.
Oh, and I’d use highlight and illuminate the same way you do.Highlighter draws attention to a particular point – aka highlights it – and illuminator just adds light willy nilly.
Well I always thought that highlighter and illuminator were the same thing!
That illuminator does a wonderful job, feels very natural 🙂
It does give you a nice glow! I’m such a mess when it comes to using products like this. I turn into a shimmery, oily disaster…
This product looks amazing!
Thanks for sharing!

It sounds nice! 🙂
You’re doing better than I am with makeup – I wouldn’t even know where to begin with this! I use foundation and powder and blush and that’s it, can’t be bothered with anything fancy, haha! My makeup has been so neglected recently, I just keep wearing my BB Cream!
so pretty

I love highlighters and illuminators, they make my complexion so bright! I only do it on fancy days too though, too much effort otherwise.

I love using highlighters and this one looks like a great colour!
I’m terrible at remembering to apply highlighter, remembering to use powder is a struggle!
