I bought these eyeshadows about a month ago after seeing how cheap they were at Wilkinsons. I bought a selection of Essence products, you can see the full haul here. Do it do it do it. I got loads of stuff for about a tenner.
Two of those products were some metallic eyeshadows:
- 35 Party All Night (the gold/brass colour)
- 03 Frosted Apple (the t’other colour)
I have a thing for gold/rose shimmery eyeshadow, which is why I love the Naked 3 so much. So because I only have about 423492453 other rose/gold/metalic shadows, I thought I might need some more.Just in case, ya know, I run out summink. Dick.
These eye shadows have a lovely shimmer to them, but to be honest they are not that pigmented. It’s more of a light shimmer that you might want to put over a matte colour for a bit of shine rather than use on their own.
The swatches in the photo below are around four layers of the shadow as my camera couldn’t pick up just the one layer. They did look more pigmented in real life, but my camera was being a brat.
If you’re looking for a subtle glitter shade that catches the light, then these are perfect, especially as they cost less than £2 each!
If you’re wanting a more pigmented shimmer shadow, I’d recommend you invest in the L’Oreal Colour Rich collection. I don’t think I could wear these a long as it would give a worn-out look. They are much more of an add on. Whether you see that as a positive or negative thing.. well, that’s up to you. I think it’s a good thing because it means you can turn your favourite existing shadows into a metallic shadow for very little $$$$.
Even though these are not as pigmented as I would like, it’s not put me off trying more Essence shadows. I love their range and their prices.
