f+f dress

 This is my motivational dress.

I bought this a couple weeks ago and it is slightly too small. You might think that it fits me perfectly, but this is the internet, kids, and like most things on the internet, the cake dress is a lie. It doesn’t zip up properly.

I have been trying this dress on every day to help me stay motivated to lose all the weight I’ve gained this winter.

I know I’ve been successful if I can Floriday this dress.

Floriday is a new word I’ve made up. It means my holiday to Florida in May. I’ve not worked out how to use it correctly in regards to grammar, but I’m just going to forget the rules and do whatever the hell I like with it.

I’m getting a bit disheartened about the whole situation, to be honest. I have been running a lot eating healthy, a lot of salads and fruit and the weight does not seem to be coming off. I do not know what I am doing wrong. If I eat any less, I might as well just not eat. If I exercise anymore, I’ll need to eat more to keep up. I’m trapped, I’m trapped, help me. I’m just at loss (only in the mental sense of the word, unfortunately).

That’s it, I’m putting my foot down. I’m going to give it one more week and if something doesn’t change then.. um, er – I don’t know. Just pretend I am saying something really threatening and intimidating while waving my clenched firsts in the air.

I have no idea who I am address.

aDRESSing. Lolz. Ugh, I’m such an idiot.

10k

OK, so I did my 10k on Sunday. I ran it in 1 hour and 13 minutes. It has made me a lot more motivated to work on my speed and I am now going to train to run a 5k in under 30 minutes – which means a sub 10 minute mile. Yik!

I’m going to enter two of the Race for Life events, two weeks apart, at the end of June and then another 10k in July in hopes to improve my time. I’d be happy with anything between 1 hour and 1 hour and 8.

I’ll be reading up on how to improve on speed as I’ve never really cared about how fast that I go, it was just the going that was important. I shall be doing mini-updates, but I’ll be talking about it mostly on my second blog.

The end.

  1. I love this dress and it looks stunning on you. I use this form of motivation often too and it really works I think.

  2. I think you look great! In my eyes you don’t need to lose weight but it’s always about just how comfortable you feel in your body!
I have never had to lose weight because I am so tiny and small but I’m just here for support. (hear me be your cheerleader) Go Corinne! You can do it! I believe in you! Who’s gonna win? Corinne is!!!
Okay I don’t even know.. anyways I really love how you made up your own word! Once you figure out how to use it, maybe it’ll catch on just like yolo or swag.. hahahaha!
Goodluck with it all!! You have an awesome blog!! 🙂 xx

  3. Sounds like you’re making great progress, woop woop! Well done on the run 🙂 And for the record, you look stunning in those pics, I don’t see any weight that needs to be shed.

  4. You look great! I don’t think you need to lose any weight at all! Sometimes clothes run smaller/larger than the tag says 🙂

Hope that you meet your goal for May though – slow and steady is the best way to lose weight 🙂

  6. Yay for completing your 10k! Best of luck training for your next race. A sub-30 minute 5K is a great goal!

  7. You look gorgeous! Fab idea though – I desperately need to lose weight and get fit so will be keeping an eye on your progress 🙂

  8. that is a stunning dress, you really suit it. Wish i could get away with wearing things like that, which huge boobs and huge thighs its hard to find a good dress lol xxx

  9. I think you don’t need to loose weight ; it is not you , it is the dress which is not the proper size. Kisses:)

  10. It’s a great dress. I think you look great. Sometimes with exercise you gain muscle and lose the fat. That could be it. It’s not a bad thing at all. Congrats on the run! You’re doing great! Keep it up!

  11. you look great in that dress! keep on moving dear! and I really like the idea of “floriday” 😀
very nice blog by the way 🙂

  12. That’s a great idea to stay motivated! I do the same with a black dress I have. The dress looks good on the pictures and you seem very fit, but I wish you luck in your quest to the perfect body!

  13. Hello from Spain: this dress is very pretty and elegant. To lose weight you have to exercise every day for almost an hour. Keep in touch

  14. I habitually buy dresses too big because I like them and I want them to still fit if I gain weight…but then I’m stuck with dresses that are noticeably baggy on me. I’m pretty sure that’s a tradition started by my Mom who would only buy clothes too big for me to grow into when I was a kid. That dress is so lovely and I hope with all of your hard work it will fit better soon!

  15. Very very cute dress. I need to use your method of motivation! I was so proud that I lost 8 pounds in January, and then I lost all my motivation and I’ve been stagnant ever since. It’s very hard to keep up the healthy eating!

  16. The dress looks gorgeous and so do you
I don’t think you need to lose any weigh

  17. I hope the dress zips up to your floriday standards soon- you’re so motivated I can barely run 10 steps. You look fab as you are but I know what it’s like when you’re just not happy with something. When I lost a lot of weight I had a pair of shorts I wanted to fit into and cried several times when I couldn’t. I’ve put a lot of The weight back on and now I’m happy but that’s just me

  18. I’ve been going through the same exact thing. I have already lost 32 pounds and want to loose 10 more, but they just won’t budge. I hardly eat anything either. I don’t exercise hardly at all, but the weather here is so crappy, it is hard to get outside to do anything. I love your dress and you look fantastic. Don’t give up. I haven’t given up yet. Good luck.

  19. You look lovely in your motivational Tesco dress. I understand your point about how we, your readers are only seeing the dress as if it fit. If the Degustabox yummies prove to be too much temptation you could always model the unzipped portion for extra motivation (quite the lecher aren’t I?). Seriously though, you have a beautiful figure already. You’re visiting Florida (my side of the pond) in May? Wow! Best wishes on your Floridays and also on your 5 kilometer run.

  20. That dress looks absolutely beautiful on you.

Our bodies get used to doing the same exercises and eating the same things so sometimes our weight loss can ‘plateau’ you need to mix up your routine a bit, maybe go do some classes at the gym?

Good luck, you are looking great already!

  21. The dress fits well to me but you should know better. Hope you weight loss journey ends the way you wish. I started Paleo recently for 30 days just to try out and see if I could be a permanent Paleo.. it is hard especially when the whole house is enjoying bread and pastas and desserts.. but I am determine to do this.. we’ll see 🙂

  22. I am glad to know I am not the only one purchasing one size smaller dresses sometimes!! I follow the same trick 😉 Loved the post <3 <3

  23. i’d never think that you needed to lose any weight, but obviously can’t know how (un)comfortable you feel in your own skin:-) hope you reach your goal and get to wear the dress, it’s so pretty! and well done with your 10k as well as good luck with the further training! xx

  24. You look awesome already but way to go!! I’m trying to lose a little more and tone up too and I’ve mostly just been running as well. I want to do a half marathon which is crazy scary since I’ve only ever done a 5k but I can run about 6 miles right now so it might become possible someday hahaha
Good luck with your goals! 🙂

  25. That’s such a good idea! I’ll have to see if it keeps me motivated. Such a gorgeous dress too. I think people doubt Tesco clothing but I always love it and you look great in it! Good luck with the weight loss 🙂

  26. Just come pump some iron at the gym with me hehehe. So jealous you’re Floridaying, I want to Floriday! India x

  27. Wow you are on a mission!! Good on you…I feel like I should enter a 10k 😐 but like it might kill me…

I’ve also hit a weight sticking point and have put on a couple of unwanted pounds – but I do 10+ gym classes a week and blumin’ live off fruit and veg (and the occasional nachos mmm) so I’m like ‘umm whuuuuut?’ Not amused.
Not that I have a Floriday as a goal but like in my head I could use it right?

If you find a solution to our issue please let me know, cos my poor mother will have no scales left if they show me such numbers again…

  28. I’m impressed that you didn’t send the dress back and worked hard to fit into it. Looks beautiful. I have the same issue for a friends wedding beautiful dress but can’t fit in it sucks. Do I return or work to fit in it and do I have enough time x
