Wow, what a night.
Last night I went to see a band called The National in Manchester. It was so so so so so amazing.
We queued from 4:30, the doors opened at 7. Sarah and I ran to the front and secure front of stage spots while the others put the coats in the clock room and gathered drinks. We managed to get right at the front.
They had a support banned, called ‘This is the Kit’ and they were great! The main singer, Kate, was so sweet and had an amazing voice. Check out the band if you like indie/folky/strong female voice type music.
The National finally came on and oh my God. I cannot tell you how amazing they were! Matt, the singer, was drinking wine throughout. First I thought he was drinking coke from a plastic cup, until he chucked it in the air, still half full and it landed on the stage, you could smell the red wine. He had a few more swigs from the bottle. Then he had a bottle of white that he was drinking from the bottle, drank half and handed it out to the crowd. Then another, which he drank half and then chucked it up in the air again, landed on the stage and smashed everywhere.
It was nearing the end and he started getting a bit mental, jumping on the crowd and running into it. He jumped on us twice!!!
Sarah got the setlist at the end.
I have the last song on video.
You should really watch it, as it you can see him jump on me half way through!!!
I also have this video.
It was an amazing night. I leave you with more photos.
