My favourite bands and artists

5-things-18

I’ve written a post about my favourite songs in the past, now I wanted to do one with my favourite bands and artists.

I love music and I’ll often listen to the same bands and artists for years. Here are some of those and some of my favourite songs by them.

Band of Horses.

I love Band of Horses. The lyrics, the melodies, the emotions. I went to see them years ago, around 2010 and they’re coming to Leeds next February and I’m going to see them again.

I’m so excited!

Bright Eyes.

Connor Oberst of Bright Eyes just knows how to write lyrics that will make you feel like your heart is sliding through your rib cage on ends up on the floor.

His voice is raw, he’s lyrics are blunt and somewhat haunting. They slam into your chest and give you all the feelings.

Many of my friends dislike the rawness of the music. It’s mostly him with his guitar but I love it.

The last few months I have been living with this couple.
Yeah, you know, the kind who buy everything in doubles. They fit together, like a puzzle.
And I love their love and I am thankful that someone actually
receives the prize that was promised by all those fairy tales that drugged us.
And they still do me. I’m sick, lonely, no laurel tree, just green envy.
Will my number come up eventually? Like Love is some kind of lottery,
where you can scratch and see what is underneath. It’s “Sorry”,
just one cherry, “Play Again.” Get lucky.

Death Cab for Cutie.

I dare you to listen to this song and tell me you’ve not fallen in love. Just take a few minutes out and put it on.

There. You’ve opened yourself up to a whole world of beautiful music that you won’t regret.

The National.

I can’t even with this song.

I wanna hurry home to you
Put on a slow, dumb show for you and crack you up
So you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
God, I’m very, very frightened, I’ll overdo it.

Sia.

Sia is magical. Her voice is powerful and her lyrics are just as impactful. I listen to her latest two albums all the time. Although I used to listen to her years ago, before she got big, so was very excited when her music started to appear everywhere!

Postal Service.

Postal service have such a unique sound and made me fall in love with electropop music.

Regina Spektor.

I’ve been listening to Regina Spektor for years. She has was too much talent for her own good, does that one. She’s the artist behind ‘You’ve Got Time’, which you’ll probably know from Orange is the New Black.

I feel in love with her after hearing Samson. Beautiful song.

Counting Crows.

I have all the Counting Crows CDs at home. Yeah, CDs. REMEMBER THOSE? I has them.

When I was around 18 I loved them and still listen to them now. They kind of make me feel sick with nostalgia though as I used to listen to them a lot when I was going through my emo phase!

What are your all-time favourite bands?

Band of Horses are literally my fave! I saw them a couple of years back in Birmingham and they were incredible. I didn’t realise they were touring again, going to see if tickets are available now 😀

LOVE Death Cab and Counting Crows, damn I haven’t listened to them in ages!! So many here I’ve never heard if either so I’ll have to give them a listen! I really don’t listen to music as much as I used to, this makes me sad!
