My pervious post on Google PageRank, 6 Ways To Increase Page Rank, went down so well that I wanted to share a further 6 tips with you all.
6 MORE Ways to Increase Google Page Rank
7. Social Bookmarking.
Social bookmarking is a popular way of boosting backlinks to your site as well as boost traffic. There are many social bookmarking websites on the interwebs today. Social bookmarking is a fantastic way of getting your content in front of peoples eyes and could result in a massive amount of traffic or more banklinks if other people enjoy your content and wish to share it with their own audience.
The most popular social bookmarking sites are:
8. Interlink between blog posts.
A great way to improve your page rank is to link your own posts to previous where relevant. If you have spoken about the same topic before, or a very similar one, you can link back to it. For example – if you are posting about a new mascara you’ve bought, you may wish to link to a previous one you’ve spoken about on your blog. The more you internal link, the more Google will craw your blog posts and then you have a better chance of increasing page rank. It also gives your audience a reason to stay on your blog for longer!
9. Avoid illegal methods of increasing page rank.
Google has rules. After you have read up on how to increase your page rank, it may be very tempting to try and ‘cheat’ your way to the top. There are ways you can do this, such as:
- Buying Backlinks – you can easily google ‘buy backlinks’ and find a list of websites that will boost your backlinks and thus, your Google PageRank, for a fee. Most of these will be poor quality backlinks that are from sites built just for link building and will eventually be shut down by Googe.
- Keyword stuffing – this is stuffing your site with keywords that are unnatural and irrelevant.
- Invisible text – this is putting invisible text on your site that only spiders can see to try and get them to crawl your blog more often.
- Doorway Pages – these are fake pages created just to get spiders to crawl websites more often.
The reason these are ‘black hat’ techniques and frowned upon by Google are because Google wants to give it’s users the most relevant, highest quality matches to search terms. Faking your way to the top of a search engine results in people leaving your page as soon as they realise, never to return. It might even make your current users hate you and want you to die. OMGZ that’s dramatic, but you know, the internet is dramatic and full of people ready to spread zee hate.
It also could get your Page Rank reset to zero, or your blog removed and banned from Google all together.
This is the opposite of happy. THE OPPOSITE.
10. Research your keywords.
You can do this by using Google Adwords.
For the less technically minded, you can simply type your keyword into Google to see what searches are most popular using the autofill option, or view the websites that are coming top 5 in the search query and make note of their title, blog URL and anything else that may result in a high search ranking.
Comparing yourself to others doing well in your area of expertise is a great way of improving – just be sure not to copy and keep the ‘you’ in your posts!
11. Fast load time.
In 2010, Google announced that load time of a website or page plays a part in PageRank. The theory behind this is that the faster your website loads, the better the user experience is. And Google is ALL about user experience. You can check your load time on Pingdom.
12. Forum commenting.
Find forums related to your niche and add your blog in your signature and profile. Also be sure to be an active and helpful member of the forum. If you give great advice and meaningful comments, other members will become curious about you and click your link to learn more about you – this may result in them even subscribing to your blog. I recommend you start a Bloggerforums. Partly because I own it and partly because it is full of people wanting to reach out to other bloggers!
There are so many ways you can improve your Google PageRank – most of these are educated guesses as Google doesn’t give much away in regards to the best way to improve it. The only people that know the best ways to improve it are those that work for Google – and they aren’t talking!
From the research I have done, we can conclude one thing:
The best way to boost your Google PageRank is to write quality content targeted to a particular topic and then use social media and social bookmarking tools in an attempt to get the relevant people to view it, love it and share it.
